I have an interesting documentary about rope making I would like to share. I has interesting information about the history of rope.

It is interesting for the purist to note that none of the ropes are BLACK or WHITE.

Even the 4 strand tarred rope is not BLACK.

I have found a video about the Halls Barton Ropery. The accounts from the people are kind of sad, They talk about injuries and that the buildings were not heated... people working in medieval working conditions up until 1989!

Thanks for posting this, it is an interesting account.    Bridon PLC who bought the site in 1989 and immediately  closed it is still making at least steel rope in what appear to be modern factories.

I found Another video about rope making. This time it's some old timer Spaniards in the countryside making cordage. It shows the processing starting with the hemp fibers to the final product.

 

There are subtitles for this video, I don't know how accurate they are...
