I have always been attracted by the Doctor's Buggy from Model Expo, and decided to build it. I'm glad I did- it was a lot of fun. I'm done with the model and really did not take very many photographs. Hoping that one or two progress pics qualifies this as a "log." Body under construction: First attempt scratch-built Doctor's Bag, abandoned. The third attempt was successful, and consists of wood and wire frame and silkspan fabric: Body mounted on undercarriage assembly (tricky) and Doctor's Bag installed: Scratch-built Horse Whip under construction: Finished Buggy, mounted on display board: I did not get the wheels canted exactly right, but it seems stable and uniform, and will keep as is. This is not an entry-level model, but I was well-served by the education I received in the progressive Shipwright's series, and I was able to rise to the challenge. Wawona59 Posted May 7 #8 Posted May 7 (edited) Wonderful Doctor's Buggy Bob. I built this kit as a gift for my daughter who is a Registered Nurse and a horse lover. I recall having some issues with the soft metal springs getting out of shape. If I built another horse drawn model with leaf springs I might consider making them from scratch using brass strips. I really enjoyed building this model. I'll be checking in on your Stagecoach build. BTW, I think your buggy came out better than mine. As a newbie to wagons, I need help on which to start with - Buckboard or Doc Buggy. I know the Concord, Chuck, Conestoga, Medicine wagon, and Pumper are way down the line. Egilman Posted August 29 #11 Posted August 29 The buckboard is probably the easiest and it's mechanicals cross over to each of the others so in the end there will be fewer questions, The Conestoga is probably the simplest of the bunch but is heavier and larger... in a scale of simplest to most complex, Conestoga, Chuck, Medicine, Buckboard, Buggy, Concord & Pumper... When you get done with all seven you will be a master at the craft...
