I made the rabbet and bearding line using a craft knife and a chisel for the digging out.

I built a construction using metal brackets to keep the keel straight and steady when all the parts which form the basis of the ship are stuck.

I dry fitted the bulkheads and supports for the keel in order to check out their fit.

It's good to see you've got your log up and running.

Nice start of what will be a beautilful ship.

Here I'm Frederica.

I see that there is a seat available next to Anja.

So I take my place and will watch how it is going on .

Looks a nice vessel.

And beginning is good so I'll think the finish also.

Enjoy !

Hi Sjors,

Make yourself comfortable next to Anjia :)

I am quite busy these days but I always find a little time to devote to the beautiful Royal Caroline.

Hi Richard,

Thank you. I like her very much too.

Next comes bulkhead number ten on which parts number 18 must be glued before the bulkhead itself is glued in place. I placed parts number 18 one by one and using a modeler's angle in order to get the angles right I glued them in their place.

Our two friends. Tame, hand fed cockatiels which usually fly freely around the house most of the day and very often like landing on our heads.

Frederica,

Maybe those birds can help you with the tiny stuff????  :D  :D  :D

My modellers angles are a little bit bigger.

I have to look if I can find such small thing...

Hi Ian,

Don't worry about Vasileios. He has enough room to work on his Victory.

Hi Sjors,

The only thing the birds can do is chew up all the small parts. That is why they are not usually allowed in the workshop.

Frederica

Hi all,

I started placing the bulkheads.

Hi Frederica,

Very nice.

Are you planking that deck and there is an others deck coming on top of it?

Or you don't see that lower deck anymore ?

Good Morning Frederica,

You are off to a flying start and she's looking good even in this early stage. :)  :)

Mate of mine had a couple of love birds who had free reign of the house, little devils chewed all his papers up so mind your plans and little bits.

You could teach a few others in this forum about keeping the workspace tidy, I hate an untidy space. :D  :D

Going to follow your build if you don't mind, I'll sit behind Sjors and try to keep him in check and make sure he doesn't drop popcorn all over the place. ;)

Keep up this excellent work, and be warned Sjors demands pictures. :D  :D

Hi Sjors,

They are keel supports and will not be planked. There are another 4 decks that will go on top and will be visible so they will be planked.

Hi Mobbsie,

As I said, my birds are not allowed in the workshop. If I let them in I know they will chew on everything they find.  :)

Keeping the workspace tidy is not so difficult. Before taking photos just drop everything on the floor :)  It's so simple.

Thanks for following my build and keeping Sjors in check. We don't want popcorn all over the place because then the birds will go mad to come in.  :)

Hello;

You can see how my birds (they were in their cage, which once sat upon my workbench) reworked the port stern filler block...

Luckily the deck and stern planking covered this ! :D

Hello rfolsom

You were quite fortunate that the planking covered the damage done by your birds. Birds always love pecking on wood.

Hi Jeff

Thank you and yes, you are quite right. Pets and models do not mix well. That is the reason why my pets are never allowed in the workshop unless they are supervised. Even then it will only be a short visit. In and out within a few minutes.

Frederica

Hi all,

I had to place an additional piece of wood on part 2A so that the fore deck would sit in the correct position.

post-431-0-60978100-1382438769_thumb.jpg

I have started the first planking

post-431-0-19427700-1382438841_thumb.jpg post-431-0-53068700-1382438843_thumb.jpg

I placed the garboard plank. For reasons of ease I used a plank which is wider that the ones supplied in the kit.

post-431-0-02632200-1382438911_thumb.jpg post-431-0-94894100-1382438912_thumb.jpg

The first planking has almost finished with just a few planks remaining to be placed at the top part and also the formation of the rounded shape of the stern.

Hello Federica.

I missed your previous post and the start of your build. May I offer a late welcome to the wonderful world of ship building.

You are doing a terrific job with your R.C. I will be following your build with interest. Your planking job looks so neat and clean.

Its good you don't allow your pets in your work shop... you don't want them trying to land on your rigging lines, when you get to that stage. :)

There aren't but two options: do it FAST, or do it RIGHT.

Current Project Build Log: Soleil Royal in 1/72. Kit by Artesania Latina.

Last finished projectsRoyal Ship Vasa 1628; French Vessel Royal Louis 1780. 1/90 Scale by Mamoli. 120 Cannons

Future projects already in my stash: Panart: San Felipe 1/75; OcCre: Santísima Trinidad 1/90;

Wish List: 1/64 Amati Victory, HMS Enterprise in 1/48 by CAF models.

So much to build, so little time!

Very nice Frederica,

But what else can I except from you ?

If you want to plank a big ship, I'll send my Aggy in the future to you  :D  :D  :D

Or bring it myself….
