The manual said to construct the main hatch in place in the deck but i thought it was easier to do it on my workspace

Underneath view shows the ridge that fits in the hole on the deck

Main hatch finished with blackened eye bolts an rings fitted

It won't even be seen once the hull is planked, except the very top of it in the hatchway, but i decided if it's going to be there it's going to be a whole ladder not half a ladder and a block of waste wood

In the last photo it looks like your bulkheads are not seated all the way down, they look to be higher than the top of the keel. Especially bulkhead 1

She's a build to be proud of Frank love it

Started On some of the hatchways

The kit supplies Lime wood for this and says to paint it a Walnut colour

Forecastle deck hatch

Hatch painted and glued in place on the deck

For some unknown reason the manual says to make up a ladder then cut it short, Then glue a block onto the lower deck and fit the ladder on to this, as show in the following photo

This seemed to be ridiculous because the ladder will reach the deck anyway, so i left it the correct length and fitted it directly on to the deck and omitted the block

Nice work you are doing on her, even with all the alcohol you have in your work area

Yes just marked the planks down 1 side and 1 end using a Sharpie

Hi Paul

            Not a fan of contact adhesive myself. Up to now everything assembled has been done with CA, i don't get too much leakage as i apply it with a cocktail stick. For simulated caulking i use a Sharpie felt pen.

Painted and planked the inside of the bulwarks.

The first row of planks, where the deck and the bulwarks meet, were painted before fitting, to give a nice tidy edge

Yep the old tools are still the best

Looking good   the gaps will be shrinkage for sure. You're best off fitting the plank in place without glue until it is thoroughly dry and then gluing it in place.

Takes a lot longer but gives a neater result

The more mess the better IMHO lol

Planking looks good but the bend will increase the further up the hull you go
