I'm looking to bring in some wood or go to the local building store and maybe cut my own planks. The wood I have to choose from is cedar, fir, oak, basswood and Cherry. The cheapest would be fir or cedar so I think I will be leaning in that direction.

Thanks for the explanation Walter. From what I can gather you could laminate the bamboo to make your own beams, lumber and even plywood. Beams and plywood made from bamboo would be incredibly strong, I find this very interesting. The keel you made Walter is likely tougher than anything out there, warping would likely be kept to a minimum.

I'll Google that Roger maybe there are some building plans on the net. Once I get the basic boat I can creep it up.

True enough Captain and the other good thing about his cloak is it will hide some of my screw ups!

My art ability could be comparable to that of your average soap dish, which translates into no talent. What is in the pictures is the start of the Ferryman and what I want to know is do you think the proportions are correct? I plan on using dowels etc. to round out his limbs and keep in mind everything except his face will be under a cloak so he doesn't have to be perfect. Another question is how should his stance be? Should he stand with his feet together or should the be apart as in braced to paddle? I'm thinking to have his feet slightly apart because he won't be rowing very fast. All input and opinions are welcome, thanks in advance.

I've started another head as you can see in the pictures, I've got an outline of what I'm going to make in my head and hope to start it this weekend. It will begin with his torso from there I'll build and mount his movable neck because those are his only moving parts, the rudder will come into play once I start building the boat.

That's what I like, build with what you have handy, in your case bamboo. Bamboo is about the toughest wood going you will have a sturdy boat when it's done.

I looked up skeletons etc. and I think based on what I'm trying to accomplish I don't like the head I made it looks too Mickey Mouse. So That being said I'm going to scrap it and start over. As I asked before can someone post my latest video of Charons head working it's under "willie watts Charon or bireme" you can find it there if not then I will only be able to post pictures, thanks in advance.

Anyone know where I can buy a one foot tall plastic skeleton that has shipping to Canada? I've put out a tweet on the Warner Bros website asking anyone for info regarding the Ferryman of the 80s Clash of the Titans pictures etc. any info would be helpful. Right now I'm getting the program set up for his movements with AEW a member of another ship building website so hopefully will have some pictures or maybe even a video soon.
