  1. looks great Keith- maybe a couple of dark brown gloss washes and some clear gloss varnish will get it looking varied and wet looking. Keith
  2. thats a new one to me- will look them up.................. wow they are nice 😁 Keith
  3. This one sneaked under my radar Keith- another interesting subject- you will be able to build stern paddle wheels blindfolded before much longer😜. It looks like paddle steamers are to you what polar exploration vessels are to me! Keith
  4. brings back memories of me and Boyd (shihawk) back in the day- i really must boot myself up the backside and get back on my Victory- keep up the good work. Keith
  5. in the world of military modelling you can buy "wet mud effects" to add to your vehicles- not sure if it will look overscale as never used it myself- there always the sieved soil out of the garden method as well
  6. to be honest Keith i prefer the ugly ducklings of the ship/ railway genre- you wont find many passenger coaches or passenger ships in my collection- freight rules. Keith
  7. Well done Greg- i think we are the only two who have done the stern tuck on MSW Keith
  8. This is where that weird bulge occre created mess with your planking runs- was so much easier on my altered Erebus hull- but i did go for full length planking. Keith
  9. I didn't alter the sternpost on my Terror but i did alter the stern on my Terror and Erebus so they could have the proper "stern tuck" - going off the fairing at the stern of your model i assume you are going down the same road. Keith
  10. Looks good- i always hold off varnishing the deck so the fittings will all bond properly when gluing them in place- you could just cover the planking in masking tape to protect it. Keith
  11. ahhhh the joys- brings back happy memories- or is that post traumatic planking disorder🤪 Keith
  12. Thank you Keith- regards the mess Its all hidden behind the very nice sheet of white foamboard 😇 Keith
  13. i think when occre originally used Matthews plans without his permission they didn't see the bit where he mentioned on his blog there are deliberate mistakes on the images of the frames to prevent copying hence the incorrect hull shape!
  14. Thanks for the likes and looking in everyone, finally started to construct the catheads and like on my Terror i drilled and filed a square hole to accept the supporting piece below the cathead - also made a new knee from some planking strip to replace the ply one, next job will be drilling holes and cutting grooves to imitate the sheaves. Also made a start on the posts for the stern davits (the two for the boat skids/ ice bridge are 4mm the others are 3mm). Take care all Keith
  15. They used thinner strip around the stern windows which does give a better looking transom than their Terror kit, instead of lasercut ply they used walnut for the keel, prow, etc - its best to read through my Erebus log as i did a review on there and have highlighted any differences i had to make -i.e. position of bowsprit, but everything else -masts, bulwarks etc is identical. Keith
