Next off  was to work on the boat and trolly to go inside the hanger,   this was the same procedure as the boat on the deck near the radar stack,  first I made the trolly then glued it to the bottom of the boat, while this was setting I constructed a plate to act as a guide, this was shaped then glued to the hanger floor,   when the boat/trolly had set I was able to paint the boat mid grey and light buff,  the boat was then fixed onto the plate.

Here are a few pics showing the boat inside the hanger.

And the construction finished on the rear funnel!

Some additional details added, the booms will be added after painting because some decals needs to be placed behind them.

Funny how the angle of the photos distort the ladders and antennas making them look really crooked.

Thank you for your comments and "likes", dear friends.

To Tecko: You are welcome, Peter. I try to find suitable solution from available information to achieve more realistic result, but I have to admit, it is often very difficult.

To archjofo: Thank you Johann, your praise means a lot for me. The same to your magnificent work.

Yesterday I finished last few pieces of decoration for the bow sculptures and here is the result:

Soon I will start with new decoration for the bow section and bulkhead.

Best regards and enjoy the pics

    Hello dear friends,
thank you for your feedback and "likes", I appreciate your support a lot.
Now I am working on decoration at the bow; mainly caryatides and decorative moldings. Sometimes it is not easy to adapt all parts together, so I have to create new ones and try again.

    Best regards,
    Doris

Thanks again for your detailed information Doris. I did not realize that the modelling clay was as flexible as you have demonstrated with the long bead-like sections after it has been baked.
A wonderful comparison shot with your two ships bow to bow.

You can also compare the bow of Royal Katherine with my older card model - Sovereign of the Seas.
And, of course, my feathered assistant is also presented there....

I must concede, I’ve bought kits from Russia, HK, Japan and bits and pieces from all around the globe and never had a problem. I’m not even sure where my Vendetta came from.

I lile buying direct from North Star as he is the manufacturer and his stuff is unique. There’s an Aussie called Randall Wilson who I follow on FB who painted nearly all the box art for 1/350 and 1/200 kits for Hobbyboss and Trumpy, if you look up his stuff he also scratch builds some magnificent warships.

My my wife thinks I’m something of a nerd but there really are a lot of us worldwide.

love the bit about frustration and joy, exactly why I stopped with plastic models for a long time.  Now I make 'alterations' to kits to get this frustration/joy

I am currently building the pre-spiled Phoenix by Master Korabel. Everything is pre cut, fitted and shaped in this kit. It makes for a beautiful model but as Chuck referenced earlier it is basically building a plastic model using wood. Zero skill required with the exception of figuring out the instructions. You don’t get the frustration and final joy that comes with doing it yourself.

Michael and Wefalck that was an excellent question and answer concerning the reason for ropes being sized by circumference. I never new what the reason was and found this to be an interesting take and observation on an important detail in ship construction. Bill Crothers would always included the rope circumference on his plans which was always most useful. Thanks again for your inputs.

I closed my ebay accoumt some time ago because of 2 things:
    1) I had shipping issues that both the seller and ebay refused to look into
    2) I do miniature painting, and I found it increasingly annoying that so much of their 'recommended' stuff came from known recasters (people who buy a figure from a reputable manufacturer and recast them (inferior quality) at a fraction ofthe price.  It came to a point that it was nearly impossible to determine if an unusual figure wasrecast or not.  Since I am a bit bored with most sculpters approaches (too static or the same pose for different subjects) the novel pieces are what gives me pleasure, and for that I am willing to pay the (sometimes relatively high) price those limit ededitions bring.  I am on a miniature forum, and all manufacturers that are on there report having the same problem and ebay not giving them adequate protection.

So I chose to leave ebay and focus on going back to the more old fashioned way of finding companies I can interact with properly, either physically (shop) or online.

Anyway, rant over, let's getback to this wonderful build and no longer hijack this thread.

I have been working on a little project lately, something I've wanted to do for years, making my own boat.
It's an Iain Oughtred design, Tammie Norrie, a 4.5mtr (15 foot) clinker sailing dinghy.

I'm really enjoying using full sized hand tools, especially the planes but the lessons learned in ship modelling have been a huge help.

Ebay can be incredibly cheap, but I bought some stuff from Starling hobbies (UK) last weekend and it arrived in OZ on Wednesday, it’s all about shipping practices

Good to see the RN genre is strong here, with Cog’s Tribal class destroyers, a couple of RN Battleships

By the way  - you may be wondering  Whats going inside the hanger?     "Well  you see"   -  its going to house one of the boats on a  trolly attached to a couple of tracks (like the the ones that would have supported her Walrus sea plane).

Hey everyone,  I  finished up shading the rest of the guns. Then glued them into the the ship.

Alot of them didn't  fit so I had to file the holes till they fit.

It's hard to get all six guns in the same photo but here are a few photos. Up next, odds and ends then the veteran models gun kits I bought as an upgrade.

I appreciate the voices of support for SeaWatchBooks. As a lot of you know I am a one man band; sort of leader of the band. I have processed thousands of your orders over the years along with managing authors, editors, designers, computer graphics experts, fulfillment service people and my print management crew. Somewhere in this semi controlled confusion something goes wrong. We try and fix it with various degrees of success.
But as long as there is a good supply of duct tape and a hank of bailing wire I think we will be able to keep most of you happy.
    Thanks for your patience
