hof00 reacted to Capt Nemo in Bluenose II by Capt Nemo - Artesania Latina - scale 1:75 - first build
Planning out my deck planking. The wood I got for my deck was 5mm and is a little too wide for what I want so I ripped the strips down to 4mm wide. Hoping the time invested was worth the trouble, should look better in 4mm. My full plank lenght will be 120mm and going with a 3 butt pattern with pencile to mimic caulking and treenails. Also going to "jog" the planks... should be fun.

Then to the respray...
Masking up wasn’t a lot of fun...
had to be careful to avoid black paint spraying through the scuppers

Got my scuppers in and hawse holes(?).
Also got my flotation line on. But in doing so one of the stem bulwarks became detached and had to be re-stuck. Going to have to refill it and repaint so not too happy about that. Going to be tricky keeping the flotation line clean and paint free. As per Hof’s suggestion, used the stanchion spacer to prevent break out.

Done some of the panels round the top rails and made a start on the bowsprit, even added the figurehead.

Masked, painted and mounted the canopy today. A good 4-5 hours required, rather tedious. The pre cut masks make a world of difference. The job would have been much more difficult and time consuming without them on this model.

Moving along with the right wing I have for the most part am finished with the engine and have moved onto the LG.I had heard of another fella using the wire as the hydraulic lines so I settled on that with a slight in provision I skinned back the wire some and ran it through some brass tubing then slid the sheathing back over the wire and a slightly bigger brass piece cut and used as the coupler between the rubber/metal.I have another tubing to attach to the other side also of the LG as was in real life. Kevin
PS;the wire goes into the wheel hub out the bottom of the tire and under the platform

I don't know whether this counts as progress : all (but three) pieces have been used, the evergreen been painted (yes, I know, thee colours are off, but not as far as these pics suggest).
Remaining work is masts and rigging. I tried myevergreen rods, but they are not stiff enough. So, I have to find some steel or brass inthe correct thickness, and delivered by a webshop with decent postage-costs. I hate ordering little thingies costing under 5 euro's and paying four times as much due to the stamp that is on it. )
Today's pics
Knowing myself, it will remai. In this state quite a long time. I have now three or four models in this 'almost done' category, some for over a decade
