Hi Lou, I just caught up with you. Sorry to hear about you slow down condition but fully understand. Yep, kit bashing brings a few problems with it but it's challenging and fun. I'm glad you figured out how to manage the problems that cropped up. She's taking shape and that's the main thing.
Keep at it my friend.

Happy to hear you had a grand time at the museum and model show. The hammock stanchions look great and so does the netting.

Piet reacted to YankeeD in De Zeven Provinciën 1665 by YankeeD - Scale 1:50 - according to drawings by Mr. O. Blom - First wooden scratch ship build
Well another month passed and some holidays in between and a bad eye infection thatkept me from working on the ship. But we still had some progress.
I found a discrepancy on the gunports. Both side the same. So I decided to first correct that and then to fix the stern and the missing frames to the stern.
After that I intend to start the hull planking upwards.
I know the white line of the (Rahout??) is not correct but its on purpose to get the correct lining for the frames. Once the frames are ok I will return to the correct line.
Have a nice weekend all.

Piet reacted to BETAQDAVE in ROYAL CAROLINE 1749 by Doris - 1:40 - CARD
I was just reviewing the Royal Caroline build log and came across the picture of the parrot on its back and the ensuing comment and thought I could maybe add some insight as to the birds' peculiar behavior. We had a parakeet awhile ago who would do the same thing but was generally just looking for some attention or wanted to play.
Here he is with his favorite toy. He could spin it around, throw it away, chase it down and repeat several times. (Maybe he was in a circus in a previous life?)

Hi 8sillones
I don't want to hijack Doris' thread, but, my word, what a beautiful model you've built!
Would you be willing to post some more photos in the Gallery for us to enjoy?
Thanks
Patrick

My congratulations. It is a magnificent job. I'm surprised: I use very similar techniques. I'll give you a picture of my Royal Caroline, also with clay.

Wow! Doris, your Royal Caroline is jaw-dropping beautiful, especially the photos with the lanterns and cabins lit up. Outstanding!

No, the hinges I have made. I mean the locking system for the window - like the door handle/knob. On the plan, it has been shown, but is only from the inside.
The small window is opening to the outside. This can be seen often on Van de Velde drawings as well as that there is no door grip from outside.

Hello Drazen,
Fantastic small work on the doors. By the “door grip,” do you mean the strop hinges? Are the doors intended to open inward or outward?

Done. Under high magnification, it looks a little coarse, but it is a very tiny part.

Making the fittings...
They are made of 0.1mm brass sheet and are 0,6mm wide. The nails are made out of 0.3mm brass wire. The procedure of making the nails, I will explain later, when I show the whole procedure of making the rudder.
