Piet got a reaction from Omega1234 in Hr. Ms. Java 1925 by Piet - FINISHED - Pacific Cross Roads - 1:350 - PLASTIC - Light Cruiser of Royal Netherlands Navy as she was in 1942
Thank you Carl for the input and yes, that's one of my tests I'll be doing. I bought some lighter blue acrylic artist paint and white at HobbyLobby.  Have had no time to devote on the trials, maybe tomorrow.

Good to see you here Sam and also my thanks for your input and generous offer.  I visited the website you provided the URL to, impressive stuff.  Kinda late in the game at this point though for the sea.  Now I wish I had known the existence of the BJB store but I have it bookmarked.  In addition to the acrylic paints I also bought a special white "stuff" for sea foam accents. Perhaps the same as acrylic white but hey, at this point I'll try anything that may give me the desired results.  Thanks for the complement in the sea Sam and yes, as already mentioned before in this log, it's also my first time using polyester.  So far I'm quite happy with the way it came out, just a tad too dark but then again with the tropical sun out in the early afternoon hours seawater does tend to be rather dark when looking down on it.  I'll keep you in mind for my next diorama, that 1:3000 scale Young America, maybe 2 table spoons for the sea
BTW, I peeked at your Enterprise build, impressive work Sam and blessings with your wedding.

I did manage to make a new antenna assembly and installed it to "Java" this afternoon.  Tomorrow I'll do some paint touch-ups on the hull where some of the poly sea stuff found its way to.  After that I'll start with the testing of the waves.

    Cheers,

    Hi Betaqdave,

One thing I know for sure, these strips are not part of a kit, for the simple reason that Doris does not use any kits, it is all scratch build from drawing and paintings

Thanks, Druxey.  That first post doesn't seem that long ago.

Andy. perhaps what keeps me out of the corner is knowing that I would get no sympathy whatever.

Cog, with my eyesight I can't distinguish every detail, but I like knowing it is there.

Rob, I wish my time management was better.  Perhaps the 4 1/2 years on this model would be less.  Right now I am averaging about 2 hours per day.

Thank you Peter.  The high contrast photos accentuate detail - even unwanted detail.  The biggest issue with work like this is clipping off the excess ends neatly.

    Captains Gig mounted....
This morning I completed the temporary mounting of all three davit launches.  She's pretty much ready for the road trip.
Note:  I spent most of the day yesterday building a weatherproof cargo box for the back of my pickumup truck.  After the near disaster I had a couple of years ago, I assure you this box will not blow out the back on the highway..... no matter how fast I drive.  I did a road test this morning up to 90 mph.  Solid as a rock.

    Update:

after advisement for the machine use, here the first sail (cotton cloth) is under way and half done. I`m satisfied with the results so far...

the machine speed is controlled per foot pedal

Ronny is watching the strange things his master is doing here in the dining room....

this is the folded diagonal reinforcement stripe I made an upfront trial for folding with paper first. This was one of the difficult sequences for me, but now the seams are in straight line. parallel, and it worked out as it should...

    Many thanks Denis and Piet,

in the moment its running a bit slower than usual, due to many things to be done for house and garden. Yesterday I changed the winterwheels of my car back to wheels with summer tyres, but I still hope to get the sails sewn this week....
