Clare, you did such a fine job on your introductory post that I took the liberty of copying it into the kit reviews section -- hope you don't mind!

Outstanding, Clare! BTW, a Wuetender Hund kit is on its way to South Carolina even as we speak -- review to follow soon after!

Suffered a bit of a setback today as while I was handling the Avenger model, butter-fingered it, then watched it fall from chest-high to land smack down on the ceramic tile floor. It broke away both horizontal stabilizers as well as the rudder separated from the vertical stabilizer. In addition, I lost two rocket mounts and had to scratch build two replacements. It could have been worse...lots worse, so I am thankful the damage was minimal considering how far it fell and the hard floor it landed on.
In the photos, I am dry fitting the underwing components and the bomb bay doors. Note the aircraft has two radar array antennae on each side of the wings. Didn't realize the Avenger was radar equipped until I built this model. There are still numerous detail items to add as well as decals and paint details. I might leave the rockets off, but have not decided yet.

On March 18, 2015, I posted my first entry in this build log... Just a few days shy of 5 years later, the project that was supposed to be my basic intro into wood model ship building is finally completed !!!
A lot of things happened in my life over the course of this build...some good...some not so good, but I enjoyed every minute I spent working on it. Many times it was a refuge from those life events.
I have also immensely enjoyed my interactions with this community of amazing modelers and I want to thank each and every one of you for your advice and support!

This morning I completed the sanding of the hull. I applied a small drop of my super phatic glue where there were some very minor gaps and then sanded over so the sawdust could bind with the glue. It seemed to work out very nicely.
I also painted the gun port openings red. I may still line the gun ports at a later stage, but this will be after I have assembled the gun carriages and after I have checked to see if there is any alignment issues with adding linings.
I have also fitted the prow, keel and rudder posts as well.

Hi VTHokiEE, looking over this kit, I don't see anything that you have to cut out, except for the flags. Everything else is laser-cut, so you just have to cut the tiny tabs that hold each part to the sheet.
If you really like lighthouses, then some of the Shipyard lighthouse kits will give you some good experience with the laser-cut kits, but I don't really think it's necessary. I did build their Crowdy Head lighthouse kit, which was a pretty neat kit though.
Very quick build, and you do get a good taste of what the Shipyard kits are like.

The kit will be produced by MarisStella, and based on the quality of their previous kit offerings (look for finished examples in the galleries), this kit should be very, very good.

Masking the hull plates. I’m not going to weather this heavily so it will be quite subtle

Captains cabin done. Its quite blue but i like it-lets say its dark waters that reflect from window.
Now its the keel left, then varnish and off to small details that i have prepared a bit allready. Good thing with deck details is that you see constant progress as the details are getting put to place and that motivates a lot. Same as planking when the ship is taking its form.
Not bad for a beginner captain i would say. Even Admiral is pleased allthough i spend most of evening hours behind desk:).

Will probably get bumped to somewhere very close to the top of the queue -- along with finishing the MK Kanonen Jolle, the Okumuto Hannah kit, any number of 1:33 card planes, and my full-size Sassafras 12 canoe. Whew!

That's the kit that is on its way -- stuck in Liège, Belgium, at the moment. 🤔

UPDATE TIME!! Okay, not a big update, but an update nonetheless. After a forced hiatus for the move, followed finally by the move itself (#38), getting the "man cave" set up, and purchasing a suitable modeling desk, the ship yard is back in action! I sanded an oar down to shape this evening -- only took 40 minutes. Twelve more oars at 40 minutes per oar is ... lessee ... only 8 more hours to complete the oars. 🤪🤪🤪 Still -- it's progress.
