The smaller the scale, the less details  is likely to be seen on a model ship.
    Here is an example:

How the frames sit on the keel. Boudriot give an extensive description but  How the heels fit under the frame is not so clear. It is difficult to see exactly how it is done.
So I tried to manufacture 1 set of frames.
You can see the result of this try.

Last two days I practiced in drawing Acathus leaves. Today I tried to carve the middle part of the decoration rails. Since there is now exact drawing from the original, I have designed it by myself.

These are just awesome. The more I look, the more I like. Great colors, details, and appearance. Congratulations on a couple of fine finished scale models.

Thanks for looking in.   So far, so good on planking.

This Deathstar II, Rev2.   I think.  Ah.. just call it Deathstar III.  I've got one pesky setting that won't stay in place on a mirror adjustment.  Considering my options....  Locktite, epoxy, or weld it.

    Jason,

Here's a couple of screen shots that might help.

The first is complete drawing (as of today) with all the layers of which there are 10.  I started with a scanned image of the deck, then added reference lines (red and blue).  Then each part of the deck got it's own layer so I could lock it and turn it on or off as needed.

The red tick marks off the vertical lines is where the planks cross the beams (actual measurements).  I started in the center and worked both ways by copy/pasting the original set of marks and then adjusting the size to fit the space (scaled them).  So far, so good.  It seems to be working.    This is a computer variation of the planking fan that Chuck uses in his planking methods.

This shot is of the cutting layers for the plankings....

Any questions, feel free to ask.

    Hi Mates,

Next part to make was the rail above the counter. Productionsteps: cut out by saw, profiling by a millingmachine and finishing by files and carving tools

The complete rail. The little pedestals at portside and starboard will be the bases for the decoration elements of the stern.

    First painting of the rail.

    Hi,

After moving to the new house, unpacking everything and a surprise trip to London a was able to convince the Admiral to double my space

Wile in London I managed to take one (very cold) day to go to the Royal Dockyards in Portsmouth. What a wonderful day... I just felt like a kid on Christmas Eve...

Now I need to go back and think on how I want to proceed...

    Thanks

At the big Utrecht these parts are mirror-like. But I think that I will have to carve many times until I can make two of this parts wich are realy equal.

hi all      progress this week has been spotty at best.   none the less,  I have been able to visit the table for short periods of time.  I was able to paint the lenses for the mast lights...inside surface.  you may see a tinge of color.....the two perched side to side are done in yellow,  and the one straight forward is in white.

the other two pairs of eye bolts were drilled and cemented in place on the net rigs.   that finishes them up,  so the next step will be to rig them with chain,

I couldn't remember how I set up the net rig rack.......perhaps I should have looked back into mu own log        it seemed like the rig was too low......but I think I held it in place in another way.  the chain is attached to the eye bolts with 4 mm metal rings......I bought these at Hobby Lobby.   they are really small.......can't tell you how many I've lost so far......either launched from the pliers,  or catapulted by a slip of the chain.   the center was found and the center support chain was put in place.
eye bolts will be along the bar to attach them.

another pair of chains divided the two sides....these will be attached as well.

I have around 17 beads to make the buoy string.   I have a bad feeling that this will not be enough.   I began to paint them.

while we were out the other day,  we stopped in at Hobby Lobby.   I needed more small drills,  since the last one I had broke last week.   I couldn't believe that they didn't carry drill assortments....I ended up getting another pin vise which had a small index of five drills in it.   I'll have to look online I guess.  I also found these.....they are the same as I am using,  just without all the different sizes {I bought a multi pack last time}.

I also got the outer chain on the other net rig....it's waiting it's turn on the rack.

should I get any more done today.....I will post it.   I have to go out again

You have to rig your cannons as in this photo to the reserve of only one tackle in the back.

The dimensions of the elements are as follows (guns of 6 / guns of 8), real dimensions to scale for your model
    - single and double block: 175mm/200 mm
    - rope of tackle: diameter: 17mm/20 mm
    - breeching: diameter : 32mm/47 mm

I`m asking myself if I am right in bringing in all these vents. Appr. the same amount as just placed in the area of the first two funnels will go into the area of 3rd and 4th funnel as well. Cross-checking over again many times with the overview drawing. confirms the number of vents and their individual sizes.......
I remember when I once researched the differences in detail for the Cunard twins "Mauretania" and "Lusitania" (as potential scratch build model), it was only the "Mauritania" that was comprising the traditional forest of vents, her "sister" had a different vent design
