Hi Andre,
Everybody can follow logs they like, if you like mine, I am honored, thank you
You open a new perspective to the projection of an image. I guess that it is even already possible.
If a "projector' can create a 3D image in 3 plans(Even if I have a 3D projector, the problem is that that the projection is just in 2 plans) : width, height and the missing link: depth,
then everything would be perfect! I could see exactly where I have to glue a part...
And yes, your vision is perfectly right, one day it will assist us.
Scratch building was for a long period building only with your own hands an some simple tools. Then the 'motor" arrived (water, steam, gas... electricity). Today, we all use electric tools and we are stillo doing scratch building. Actually, dazzling development of data processing open new doors for the model ship makers: 5 axes robots, 3D printing, Autocad plans...
Everyday new tools arrive on the market, and we adapt our technics with new tools, and we are still doing model ship building.
Tools evolve but the name remains the same: scratch building.

Richmond
I was just on the Freetime Hobbies Ukraine website. I am not sure they are still in business. They once offered payment by Paypal, but the only method they show now is Western Union. That doesn't seem a good omen to me. I tried to contact them by email, so I will let you know if I get a response back from them.

Child labour is now recognized as a form of exploitation in most countries and is illegal! So, alas, while he works only for his pleasure! But I can help You! Where to go? (I'm kidding, of course, my surgical wound hasn't healed yet.)

Thanks Druxey
I have test set the port side rail and plate.
It would be good to find some actual screw this small.

Thank folks for the kind remarks. While waiting for the paint to dry on the second layer of Canvas on the hatch. I though that a set of belaying pins that were all the same size might be a good idea. the following sequence should be self explanatory.
The final shaping was done by using one cutter then using some sanding sticks.

Close up pictures really do expose the flaws....hmmm I laid a second covering of cloth over the first because the paint job turned out a bit rough. so thinking that a second layer would work better if I adhered it with paint it would look better. I did not wand to fold it over the edges again though so trimmed it off.
I cut and bent the first mahogany capture strip and fitted it today I like the strip but am not so happy about the cut line visible.
Also I was not really pleased with the shoulder on the belay pins and so reworked them a little.
Compared to the first shaping.
I replaced all the pins on the forward rail, and while setting the ropes I realized that the rail is a bit low and should probably be raised up a foot or so from a practical point for the crew setting the ropes.
Oh the joys of muddling along and learning on the job.
