Good Morning All, Thanks to all who have visited, for the likes and the gracious comments. Much appreciated.
Not a heck of a lot going on but having fun doing it, just a few pictures showing what';s going on:
The windless with it's poles(is there a proper name for these?)
The next few pictures are showing the process I used to make some demizanas
This one is showing the tools I used
This is showing what I have been mainly busy at this week, making shooter glasses. Normally I wouldn't show this but being we are drinking rum out of these so I thought it was a little nautical. It is a 60th birthday party with a Jamaican theme, hence the colors and Appeltons rum.
Here is the final demizanas, the small one still needs some refinement. They are about 30 and 10 mm tall.
And to end with, I have the port side deck rail installed and the top timbers re-installed. Now onto the starboard side
Thanks again for stopping in and have a Good One

A little update:
Grates for ship's stove, just brass rod ca'd together
The pieces for stove
Completed, added handles and hangers. The pot is a flattened out penny with brass rods soldered on for handles

Thanks Ian, the crew was very happy to see them all come on board(6 large and 6 small), so I'm guessing it is something more than olive oil inside them

donrobinson got a reaction from mtaylor in REVENGE by John Maguire - Amati/Victory Models - build in the Cougar Mountain Shipyard
I wish you well in your new interests, but I hope you still come back once in awhile with some updates on the Revenge, as she is worthy of completion even if it means a couple of years or more.

Very interesting build. I don't know anything about the history but I do know it looks cool and that's what counts, to me at least .

donrobinson got a reaction from PeteB in Lady Nelson by vossiewulf - Amati/Victory Models - 1:64
Good morning and welcome to MSW, sounds like you have a good plan with your wood. I think cocobolo will work good as is not porous like oak, for instance, which is a problem at these scales. Being it is as dark as it is and the size of the pieces being used the wider grain will not be that noticeable. As for bending, I don't think it should be too much of a problem as the pieces to be bent will only be 1.5 mm thick. Myself I would use it for the keel also, I am not so sure how you could blend in a white paint line so it would look good with the cocobolo and boxwood. The boxwood and holly are also good choices and ebony, although lots of work, will look great. What do you plan on using for the mast then?
Looking forward to more updates

donrobinson got a reaction from BobG in Some beginners questions on deck planking
120 mm planks at 1:64 would be 25' scale, this length also makes it divisible for all shift patterns...2, 3, 4, or 5. This information is thanks to Ulises Victoria who has a great deck planking tutorial on the NRG site. http://modelshipworldforum.com/resources/Framing_and_Planking/Deck_PlankingIIbuttshifts.pdf
