Several more frame pairs added, moving at a good pace now I’m in the groove.

Work on the forward apron and cant frames has begun, nothing glued in place yet, just checking the fit.

Someone’s got their own dedicated workbench again. Will be back at Winnie again…slowly, in between working on and designing Portland. Looking forward to finishing this awesome project!

It's been slow going for the past month but finally wrapped up all the work in chapter 2 above the wales and now it's time to start work on correcting my issues at the tuck and lining out the lower hull.

Here are a series of pictures showing the work above the wales and the fairing of the bulwarks.

Close up of anchor lining.  Looks like I need to fair that edge of the bow fairing cap just a little more.  Pictures always pick up these things.

Close up of fitting the fairing cap at the stern

I dry fit the false deck sheets to ensure I got the bulwarks fairing correct down close to the deck.  That tight corner between the deck and the bulwarks was the most difficult to fair.

I'm pretty happy with the way this has turned out.  The use of the fairing caps was a big help, I would have left the bulwarks too wide without them.  I also used some gauge sticks to measure the depth of the bulwarks framing, and the depth of the gun ports.

    Sure Greg,

I took a piece of 7mm by 8mm (same dimension as my keel) piece of pear and milled the horizontal notches on top - then flipped it to each side to complete the corresponding notches.  Lastly I used a chisel to i finish the notches where they rise above the cut line (Cut line being the bottom of the side notches that sits above the keel proper)  Then I severed the top piece using my Byrnes table saw.

Actually one of the easier operations so far on this build....

Liking the progress, what material will you be planking with? AYC like the other prototype?

Moving into chapter 2 I’ve attached the frieze panels and added the forward false sub deck for fairing reference.  Now it’s time to primer and prepare the gunports for paint and line off the upper hull for planking. Finally it will begin to look like Portland!

Thanks guys. It’s slowly starting to look like something resembling a Portland class ship.

Port side mostly complete  now. Some minor block sanding to do now and then permanently attach the frieze panels and prep for planking.
