  1. Again, a great looking build EG. Unfortunately the incidents that are the most desired in combat are also the times that most if not all the people involved are pretty much busy with other matters they feel are important. Pictures are not usually high on that list.
  2. I like your idea to build up a collection of "yellow Wings" Mike. They will make a very impressive collection and be somewhat unique at the same time. If you are able to pick different squadrons they also each have their distinctive look with the red, green, blue, or whatever other color was needed so they don't all look the same. One you may give a look at is the Eduards "The boat" JRS-1. Even though it is 1/72 it is a fairly nice kit and can be modeled in a number of configurations. I have the kit and it looks like a pretty clean model even though reviews say that it does have issues with the canopy fit. There is also a fair amount of inline research/sources to work from including some video of the restoration, (Still in progress) of Howard Hughes's JRS-1. The planes you have built so far have turned out great in my opinion, and I have already commented on how fantastic your 1/700 Destroyer is. Are you certain you don't want a 1/700 Fletcher to go with it?😈
  3. My hat is off to you Mike. You are a far better man than I. I have no interest in torturing myself at that scale!
  4. Great work Denis I believe all of the guns on the Memphis Belle were "named." As an example the tail guns were named "Pete and Repeat." The nose guns were "Dinny and Janie"' It appears that naming the guns was somewhat common on B-17s. Interesting film EG
  5. You need to do that now and then so that we can confirm it is you posting, and that it is not some kind of impostor. One can never be too certain these days!
  6. The only thing my wife would be writing would be my obituary, for use shortly after she killed me!😞 Back in the 60s I had an MGTD that I used to run some local SCCA races, mostly in the mountains where I lived. A few years back I revisited these same roads and took a day to show my wife where I grew up. I could not help but drive the roads the same way as I did when I was young. I'm not certain she ever forgave me. When we went through our academy we spent a week in our pursuit driving course. We used the same patrol cars we would be using on the streets, big heavy Ford Customs for the most part. We went through three sets of tires in that week per car! You would be amazed what you can do with an American "Lead Slead". Heck EG, they close two of the passes here every year for about six months out of the year. They just opened Highway 20 on May 12th. 410 and 123 are still closed as far as I know.
  7. What else would you put on them? After all they are, "Bomber Poop".
  8. Nice work OC, it's good to see something go right for you on this build for a change. I do not remember ever seeing porthole windows on any Mosquito bomb bay doors before. I assume they are for Photo recon aircraft where the cameras can be set up for photos. I have seen the porthole window in some crew hatches, but that seems not to be a 100% thing either.
  9. Three generations here, ALL boys. The only girls are our two grand daughters who live hundreds of miles away! Only girls here are my wife and our cat. My wife of course ALWAYS wanted a girl. I was happy to bypass that ordeal! I have heard too many horror stories from fathers of teen girls!
  10. Came out really nice Jack. You constantly amaze me with how fast you can throw a diorama together and make it looks so good. It took me months just to envision what I want to do with my Huey when it gets built and I have no idea at all if I can even carry it off. To me the building of a diorama takes an artist while at the level I am, building a model is mostly just mechanical skill. It is clear that you are an artist.
  11. If being broke was a cause then I would have never grown hair in the first place. Sometimes I look back and wonder how much money I could have had if I had not been nonstop raising children for the last 51 years!
  12. Fantastic build Robert I find it hard to believe that it is the same old Lindburg kit I have sitting in the bottom of my stash somewhere. I would have never dreamed that this could be done with it. Congratulations
  13. You have two choices. You will either get gray hair or you will loose it. Either case is caused by children!
  14. THAT is a shock! My youngest grandson just turned 13 last month and he looks like he is nine or ten! (Acts like it much of the time as well). Are you taking out the guns and cleaning them in public for all the potential boyfriends yet?
  15. I'll take it! I happen to like them. So you are here for the same reason as I am. Watch how the real pros do it and then sneak over to the modeling area and see if I can even come close!
  16. I don't know if they were flatlanders or not, but in one case it was just plain dangerous. Luckily it occurred very close to the summit where the ski resort is and there was almost no traffic at all. I was admittedly moving right along at this point mostly due to the fact that this part of the highway is four lanes instead of just two. I noticed the break lights come on on a car that was some distance in front of me in the slow lane. There was no car or anything else for that matter in front of him and I was still some distance behind him. Of course his slowing down caused me to close the distance even faster as he slowed down for no reason. He did this several more times, and by the time I went by him it looked like he was doing something like 20 miles an hour on a four lane highway! I thought later that possibly he thought I was State Patrol as I drive a white SUV, but that is still no reason to almost come to a complete stop on the highway, especially if you don't see emergency lights on the oncoming vehicle! I could have taken my Mini Cooper as it can take the turns on mountain roads at normally twice the recommended speed without even straining. It is an amazing road handling car, albeit at the expense of a relatively stiff suspension making it a little rough riding on some roads, (Like mountain roads). But while I LOVE it, my wife tends to not like riding in it all that much. I'm not certain if it is the car itself, or the way I tend to drive it!
  17. Now that is surprising to me. The cab on the Scammell somehow looked much larger. I could never figure out why Revell chose to manufacture this kit in 1/32 instead of 1/35. Another "Fast" build? Maybe I should start bringing candy bars to these builds. Not enough time for popcorn to start popping! Jack isn't here yet so I will be waiting the rafters with rabid interest to see what kind of magic you perform this time Craig!
  18. Not too bad really. A little over 400 miles all told. I won't be able to say that my gas mileage was two months to the gallon this week though! A little rain, some snow still in the passes and sunshine and bugs east of the mountains. It was nice getting out of the neighborhood for a change. My only complaint is that it seems like people have forgotten how to drive and are shocked at the speed it takes to get to the speed limit. I HATE getting behind a car on a two lane mountain road who insists on driving twenty miles an hour UNDER the speed limit and to heck with the line of cars stacked up behind! Made me wish I was driving your M-50!😈 Now you have my curiousness up as well
  19. Boy, a guy takes a little time to do some cross country driving over a couple of days so that his wife wouldn't need to take a bus, (I told her NO WAY) and when I get back you are all done yet again! And as usual with fantastic results. It is hard to believe that this is basically the same tank that Jack built just a few weeks ago. It looks so much more modern and deadly. Great work Craig
  20. I guess it doesn't matter where I sit on this one since Jack took my normal rafter position. It's pretty much already all over. Sure wish someone had brought popcorn for the movie though! It was a real snoozer after the first few minutes.
  21. The one that is a couple of blocks away is just a small shop and is almost all RC cars now days. The other one across town is part of the Hobby Town USA chain. It has more variety and a larger stock base but seems to still cater to the RC car base, At least from the behind the counter assistance aspect of the store. In the same area is a Hobby Lobby that also has a small modeling section. Otherwise I have to go down into the Seattle area and when stores are open in normal times that is a no fun trip at any time of the day. Especially if you don't know if they will have what you want when you get there! It may only be 25 or 30 miles to several stores but it still takes several hours to do the round trip even at mid day outside of commute hours!
  22. His may be brighter and flashier than your build Patrick but I think I like your rendition better. His is just for looks, you have added authenticity and accuracy to yours.
  23. Your local hobby store is OPEN? You lucky stiff. I have two local stores, three if you count Hobby Town from as close as two blocks away and as far as six or seven miles. MANY more if I want to drive further. NOT ONE is open right now! Probably a good thing as I tend to buy more than what I need when I do go in anyway.
