I certainly have.
Although that loose structured cable outlet cover annoys my architectural reflexes (along with my electrician reflexes). 🙂

Love your last photos of the plane. The faded look of the weathering looks perfect! The stand is a very effect as well.

these are just random photos. the wings are on and the stand seems to work well with the model.
no.....not on the stand yet.........but it has been on it you can see I'm protecting the tail gear. the deice panel on the tail fin has been painted.......the glass at the tail end of the cockpit bulge has yet to be installed. here she is on the stand....
as mentioned, she is not at her center........that is up around the bomb bay doors. I think the feet of the stand should be splayed out more for better stability......but it works. the glass is installed at this time......the plane is pretty much complete. I do need to do some touching up, and then the final pictures in a less cluttered environment. the gap along the top of the nose has been repaired to my liking. I used the window maker to do it.
it's still a little wet.......I touched it up with the olive green, and then muddled it with the bomber tan. the final pictures to come soon.......I found that the pin on the stand is loose...........more glue!!!!!
one more bit of detail to go

Glad about the thumb drive Denis.
If you have some Isopropyl alcohol, (Rubbing alcohol) you can use that and a toothbrush to clean the circuit board and contacts. 99% is best, but 70% will do. It cleans and dries better and quicker than plain water.

Friday morning was the decider.......the guns that Mark sent me are really nice. but the big factor here is that the guns in this model have a thicker barrel. they would look like toothpicks compared to them. the guns I have for the nose.........I came up short 1 gun. don't know why or how.......all I know is.......I am. since I wasn't using the guns for the belly turret, I took the pair and split them in half.
they were very floppy and hard to manage like this, so I went into my spare parts box and found the part you see above....some rod that went to the F 15 Eagle. I chopped a piece off of it and I'll use it to join the two together, spaced enough to fit in the holes provided. if that wasn't enough, the hollow guide tube I added to the fuselage for the stand, had broken off and gone to parts unknown. I needed to find a replacement......and the turret button became the solution. as can be seen, I drilled it out larger, having selected the size pin for the stand....the original guide tube would not have sufficed.
glued together, the guns were lined up and left to dry. I had a chance to look at the guns in the Memphis belle kit. the barrels are almost the same size...much closer than this kit. so I will hold them over for the Memphis Belle, a much more worthy recipient in my view
the new pin for the stand......and a review of my painting skills
I brought it right over to the booth and gave it another shot of paint {it's a sort of green}. the two last window parts were cemented into place.......this will be a good test for the window maker. I'll see if they stay there when I put the two halves together.
given time to dry........the big moment has arrived! the two fuselage halves are glued together.
these are some of my weaker clamps......didn't want to use the larger ones for fear of crushing the model. that took time to dry.........just as well, we went on our errands. after we got back and had supper, I was able to continue with the model. it was time to use up the rest of the decals.
the other side was done as well. the nose guns were painted and when dry, glued into the nose glass. for all the gluing that had to do with the glass, window maker was used. the nose was then glued on the fuselage. here is the the worst of the fuselage union.......the gap along the top of the nose. I think the pilot floor didn't fall into the slots on the opposite side..........I had it held together with scotch tape. at any rate........all that can be done now is fill it.
the next problem to arise, was the stabilizer wings....they were a tough fit. I had glued the tail guns in place a short while before attaching them. as I was pressing them in place {one in particular}, somehow I got the idea to use my chest to steady the fuselage.........you guessed it............the guns were bent! there was a saving grace though.........they had come unglued and shifted in a way that they did not break. I was later able to straighten them and reuse them the rudder was easy to install....I used the stand for that.
it's also a good thing I'm using a stand for it.......the tail gear broke as well. of course I fixed it, but as a stand alone model, I don't think it would hold out for very long. so until the wings are on, I won't know just how good the stand is.

I need to quit stopping in here Craig
Every time I do it seems to thin my wallet a little more. My wife is beginning to think I have a mistress! All of these high tek models and after market stuff seem to require a lot of high tek stuff to make the best use of them!

As a side note Big Bird, (Caroll Spinney) died at 83. It appears that Spinney has played Big bird since 1969. He also did Oscar the Grouch, (Who I liked a lot better than Big Bird)

lmagna got a reaction from Canute in Build log of a space ship?
No facts at all, just the strange way I look at things. Sorry if you were thinking that I was classifying those aircraft and space ships as forms of boats for posting builds on this forum. There is only one place to post builds of these types of models on this forum and that is in the Shore Leave Non-ship/ Categorized builds. Sorry for the confusion,

lmagna got a reaction from Canute in Build log of a space ship?
Oh I don't know if I would call it serious, but it is fun, at least to me. (I sometimes humor easily).
The Hindenburg, along with others of her kind have already been categorized as AIRSHIPS. They were in all respects ships of the air and were operated in a like manner, Blimps, or non rigid dirigibles, on the other hand are operated like airplanes and as a rule have nowhere near the cruising range or endurance in the air. Now days they are normally both considered airships.
Flying boats like the Boeing 314 Martin China Clipper, Martin Mars and others I also like to regard as ships of the air, even though they are, or were, operated as traditional aircraft. Their ability to fly great distances with people and cargo was only surpassed by the large airships of the time. Of course those distances and cargo abilities have been far surpassed by almost all present day conventional aircraft but they could still land on water. That has only been done once successfully by a modern commercial aircraft, and it had some problems taking off again.

lmagna got a reaction from Canute in Build log of a space ship?
I would think it would depend on the type of space vehicle. The X wing, or Tie Fighter and Endeavor shuttle I would consider space planes. On the other hand I would think that the deep space vehicles like Enterprise, Galactica, or even the Millennium Falcon would be called space ships. Now all you need to do is categorize the space station. Is it a satellite, or is it a bunch of semi related objects all in the same orbit?

Good whisky, scotch, brandy, and even rum. In that environment any would do, but you would need the smoking jacket as well.
If you are going to go for the cigar, then why not just break out the pipe? My father used to smoke an occasional pipe in the evenings when I was a child. Sometimes the tobacco he used was quite aromatic.

Your'e a braver man than I Tom E. When I took the same plunge a few months ago, all I thought I could justify buying at the beginning stage was a $30 gun/pump. The gun looks like the clone in your first picture, but the pump is a tiny thing that sits on the bench, or in my case the table. So far it is doing everything asked of it But I am probably not experienced enough to strain it's probable limited abilities. I will be certain to hang out here and learn .

I'm jealous Bob G. I would be lucky if my wife bought me a paint brush for Christmas. But then I doubt she would know what airbrush would work well for modeling anyway.......... On second thought I suppose that would apply to me as well. That is why I am using a $30 airbrush for the first time on my currant build, afraid to spend big money on a system that is beyond my ability to properly use.

None of the above :-) The Discovery pictures are from my Android phone. Everything about the submarine is from an old Sony camera, unable to focus at short distance.

Sounds like a great library. I think the pipe could work. The brandy snifter is a real need, too. Maybe a little Drambuie or a Couvoisier.

For those of you who are as fanatic as I am about the 2001 Discovery ship, there is a fantastic reproduction made by a Japanese company:
https://discovery-one.hlj.com/
Their model is exquisitely detailed and goes way beyond what Moebius did with their 1/144 kit. The ART MASTER 3D model comes fully assembled and painted by Japanese artist. It measures 5 feet 4 long and is a replica at the scale of 1/10th of the original prop created by Kubrick and his team. The price is way crazy at more than $14,300 each plus an additional $650 shipping fees. Unfortunately, even if you had the money, the list of orders is already closed.
Below are some pictures of the incredible ART MASTER 3D model:
A truly magnificent piece of art.
