Well, today I was able to finish the chain plates on the Starboard side, did some corrections to the Foremast chains which makes me happier somewhat. On the real Morgan after restoration, there is only a double chain on the Foremast, with single chains on the Main and Mizzen masts, so that is the design I'm following. The plans only show a single chain all the way around.

ahhhh.......the mother of bash!  to look at an actual picture and realize that the kit makers lied!   oh.....woe is me!       there are time I hate looking at photos.......aspects that are left out........the ideas that spin.   man,  I'm talking about some of the most obvious stuff too!
whether you add it in of not John........you'll still have a fine looking build there. ......I really like that broadside shot of her.....the chains give her a very nice look!    very sweet!

Well, I fnally got some time in the shipyard. A little rusty for sure...probably need some "relative bearing" grease to get m old fingers started - as the Bo'suns used to ask for. Working on chains for the Foremast deadeyes. Not as neat as I would like, and not lined up the way they should, but it's a start. I might come back and redo them or not..probably later on in the build. So I'm going to be going all the way around the ship and get these done. Here's the start, I soldered some o f the components with the resistance solderer and Ca'd them to the channels and hull with brads:

Hi Rich, yeah, making wire eyes is easy, cheap, and keeps you working instead of spending your time on your knees with a magnifying glass trying to find something that belongs to The Carpet God's.....

Next is Deadeyes and Chainplates. Starting with the starboard Foremast working my way to the Main and Mizzen both port and starboard. I think now is a good time to install all of them since, #1 It needs to be done, and #2 they'll be available when needed without having to interupt the flow of things. I use brass wire, proper deadeys and solder and blacken the brass. Once the chain plate is blackend insert th ends into the pre drilled holes in the channels, wrap the brass around the nails in the kit, drill the hole and glue in place. Should look something like this.

Here is today's update, trying to get some work done on the Morgan, keep my website up to date, and work on my Proxxon Store at the same time....I get confused on which hat I have on. Some work had been done on the Foremast and Mainmast a while back, but not significant enough to discuss yet. The Formast will be stepped at the same time as the Mainmast since the Mainstay (installed at the time of the Anchor Deck constrution) will be fed through the Fairleads on the Foremast and secure to the Main Top. This procedure is done at the same time to insure that the Mainstay is tightly secured.

    Suggestion 11.

Try to learn and use soldering and/or brazing techniques to make the various metal parts come together. That sounds easy and it really is. It requires a few inexpensive tools, lots of practice and mistakes, but, in the long run, you will find it to be rewording and fun to try. I only burnt two fingers four times!!!

I even put a video together about some of this:

    Let me think some more!

Advice I received was to buy some brass wire and make rings and eyebolts. You need many, if you learn to bend them, and it is easy, there is no fear of dropping one.

If you look at the beading section of the hobby store, or at Amazon, you can find some small round nose pliers made to make rings of various sizes. They are well worth having. I used many more rings and eyebolts than were in the kit.
