Ah, very good Sjors, now I get the picture.  Just as you did, I got to meet another of our members today.  We met Dave (lambsk) and his Admiral Fran for lunch in Charleston, South Carolina today.  Amazing how the forum can bring people together whose paths probably would have no reason to cross otherwise.  Absolutely amazing.  Thanks for the pictures

Well, today is our last day in Charleston, and we had a most wonderful day.  It seems that Dave (lambsk) from the MSW Forum, whom many of you know lives here in Charleston.  We managed to connect and had lunch with him and his lovely Admiral Fran at one of Charleston's quaint and very old restaurants in Historic Charleston.  What a wonderful and delightflul time it was.  Once again, the power of this Forum has shown through, bringing people together from all parts of the world because of a common interest....model ships.  It was like reuniting with an old friend.  We have been communicating with each other for months and to be able to put a face with the person as well as his ship is quite remarkable indeed.  Many thanks to Dave & Fran you are most gracious hosts, and we are very happy to have made some new friends.

Hi Sjors, thanks for the kudo's.  Yes the table is getting more crowded.  We'll just bring our woodworking tools and add on to it.  I guess I have now joined the official Gas Bag's Table.  I believe you must be lonely at the "Big" table though.....

    Grant,

It was great to hear of the adventures and that you're back home safely and (hopefully) none the worse for wear.   I won't order you back into the shipyard like a certain Commodore... but do take 24 hours off for rest.  Then back to the shipyard!!

Thanks for the welcome home Danny, John and Mobbsie. Finally got home at lunchtime today - a bit knackered after the flights, but pleased to be home again after a wonderful holiday. One of the highlights of this trip for me, and one which will stay with me for a very long time, was the opportunity to get together with Mobbsie and Christine, and Sjors and Anja. I look forward to many more Skype chats with you all and of course I would love the chance to return the hospitality if you make it down under. In the meantime, after a further day of rest, work will recommence in the shipyard on Monday (long weekend here - how's that for planning?! )

Welcome home mate, hope the journey wasn't to taxing, it's a real bummer the way people are treated at airports, almost a commodity and not individuals who have been traveling for hours.

Still home now and will soon be forgotten.   :)

Hong Kong was just a 24hr stopover to break up the flight. Georgina (the Admiral) slept for 12 hours straight when we got there, so we didn't even venture outside of the hotel on this visit! Finally made it back to Oz at 7:30am this morning, landing in Sydney after a nine hour flight from HK. Then we stood in a queue for an hour and a half just to transfer to the domestic terminal for our final one hour flight home to Canberra. I feel embarrassed for all the visitors to this country who are met with this sort of inefficiency the moment they set foot here! Still have an hour to kill before our connecting flight, so a perfect opportunity to catch up with the forum.

Augie - the US is in our sights for another trip in a few years time (once the bank balance recovers from this one!) I'll look forward to some good old US hospitality then.

Hi Dave...You're setting yourself, ( and for many others to follow !! ) a new Gold Standard for the efforts available and by all means possible for the modifications that can be applied to a 'stock' or standard 'Plastic' kit...!!! These kind of modifications, or 'Add-Ins' as they're sometimes called, are what we usually see in a more 'Advanced level' wood 'Plank on Frame' kit...Very Nice work...!!!  Your assembly at this point could actually be considered for ( and I'm considering for myself !!) a 'Cut-Away' version, that would enable either a rear or portside view of the inside of a the ship itself....This, of course exposes the details involved of the 'inner workings' of a ship to the novice, or average untrained viewing public or audience...( Usually seen in some museum dioramas ) I say this only because of the amount of work you've invested in the gun deck, which will be 'covered, and 'out of view' once the upper deck is installed....Your thoughts...???!!  ( By the Way...the last time I had done work of this nature was about 15 years ago with on of the 'Cuttys' I completed for an individual for display at a community college...and it was very rewarding, to say the least...!!!) As I said...I may go ahead and do this myself...Again...Nice to be able to talk to you live, and really nice work...My Friend ..!!  Kim

Your cannon look great and show a lot of effort and love spent on them.  The gun deck is coming along fantastically.  I very much like the overhead picture as is shows you deck to full advantage.  A joy to follow along with your build.  Thanks for sharing.

It has been a learning curve but the first cannons are complete. Now that I have a method the rest should fall in line in due order.

The first prototypes...not as tidy as I would like.

The canons to their right are a little better...

    And from the top...
