Hi folks a small update. These only stand 11mm tall and the thicker looking handles only 0.8mm - may change the handles as they look a little too thick but were supposed to be more substantial for two men to operate it. The downton pumps are assembled with one dry fitted to the base/plinth n which it will stand on deck. The next thing is to clean them up a bit and a final coat of white.

I would think that it would depend on where the ship was most of the year and how active it was. Sitting in a harbor for long periods in warm water would promote the rapid growth of algae. Colder weather/water and a more active status I think would tend to limit parasitic growth.
But having said that one must remember that the Russian fleet needed to stop in route on their trip half way around the world to clean their hulls so that they would be able to maintain a good speed when they met the Japanese fleet. Much of their voyage was in warm waters though.

So, a couple of coats of chipping fluid then a base overcoat if Red Brown, and a highlight coat with Raw Sienna to bring up the highlights of the panels below the waterline.

Hi Everyone..
I'd like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and Happy New Year.
There's been no progress on Kathryn since September, due to the serious issues we've been dealing with. However, all of the daily doctor visits and treatments have come to an end and we're starting to get back to our normal happy lives again. I'm hoping to get back to Kathryn's rigging in the near future.
In the meantime, thanks again for all of the wonderful comments on the build, and I'm looking forward to being active on MSW again.
