    Hello Hans, I liked your introduction to yourself and to this build. You had a nice start and all is well under way. The scale 1:50 will give quite a large ship, in my mind I can see a sideboard with a model in wall-filling formate. wish you much fun with this wonderful scratch build..... will the model be under full rigged sail ?     Wellcome to the build Jeff, thanks for looking in and for your kind compliment, I`m very pleased you like it. From the recent interest to this build by fellow modelers I presume there may been some encouraging ideas since keellaying. On the other hand I so much appreciate incoming comments and suggestions from others.... I work with hand scetches, trial pieces and technical solutions because all is scratch built and the coming build sequences often have to be altered and thought through more than once.....     thanks Bill, normaly I would solder the T- joints, but in this scale no soldering, although that would look very good with the flattend end. Due to the manyfold bend in the one piece rail parts, following the wall contours in this small scale I decided to glue the holding parts to the walls (stick through and glue from behind) and then lay the pre-bended rail into the loops from above and then close them as good as possible. Your fine idea has been saved for any next build to come.... Nils

    Bill, I tried your excellent idea straight away,,, it looks much better than with full diam. wire, unfortunately I do`nt have macro focus but I think it shows on the encl. pic... Thanks again The next improvement will be to choose thinner wire for those loop-ends, plus flattening... Nils stanchion wrap loop flattend......

    Hi Bob, I aimed to do the wall 19 mm high, but from some sanding to suit the curvature if fell down to 18 - 18,5 mm For the next deckhousings I`ll start with 20 mm, so that I come out min with 19 mm. I trust that less hight will not be sufficient when the next deck (boatdeck) goes on. Second criteria is the available hight for (chemical etched scale 1:144) the stairs / ladders with 27 length mm with stair at angle..... Nils

    Update.... this is how the deckhousings (promenade deck cabin walls shall basicly look like...... Nils the handrails are 0,5 mm wire in the foreground my fingers ( for scale comparism). The figurine is 1:160 railway scale N, it should be 1: 144

    Update only a small update today...... priming, painting doors and cabin walls, making stanchions for handrails.... This relatively small aft cabin is a test for making the extensive promenade deck cabins in the same way Nils the holes for tht handrails are brought in already raw doors with window frames and knob handles, need 5, one is spare as sample for later on... the pins, surplus material from the knobs will be clipped off flush with the rear doorside first paint coat, needs some touch up stanchion holders for the handrails, the loops will be closed when the rail is in position test sample piece for handrail making

    Many thanks Albert, today I tried a sample of structuring the aft cabin walls, double story windows only dry fitted...., doors and handrails not made yet... The riveting is slightly overscaled, but I wanted it to be this way and visible also for the viewer`s eye in 1 m distance Nils

    thank you very much Bob, the rough fitting of the aft deckhousing is done, I`ll leave it removeable (two screws holding down), until it is ready for attaching of details, deck, docking bridge and railings for final mounting.... Nils the 5,5 mm thick piece of ply inforcement will give secure hold for the vent-shaft borings
