  1. Hi Bob, sounds an interesting technique for making those vents, can imagine once it works the way you want it to, there will be many other items to use that methode on.... Nils
  2. thank you very much for your nice compliments. Denis, Mark, Robin and Micheal, and the "likes" Denis, I may be trying to cut some openings into fender and railing later on....., I`m afraid to weaken the static in the moment. Mark, I`m very pleased that the build is liked... Michael, fitting in some of those little items, do`nt always work out fist time, so I do it over again...., but I`m pleased you like it... Nils
  3. Many thanks Ed, it`s fun now, doing the little fitting out details. The short "waist" railings are made from brass wire and -pins, have to clean up the solderings a bit. On the sides of the forecastle deck are now the the swanneck-vents of the sanitary stations below Nils this short railing is only 8 mm high and has to fit in the appropriate space .... needs touch up and cleaning swanneck vents
  4. thank you very much Denis, Gerhard and Piet, and all the "likes".... Gerhard and Denis, for photo-etched parts can be supplied by...., I have good experience with both webshops http://www.modelltechnik-hamburg.de/ http://www.hobby-lobby-modellbau.com/onlineshop/index.php/cat/c455_Foto----tzteile.html Piet, yes, I can imagine memories coming back........, the photo seems to be from 7th Oct. 1909, quite a chilly time for a sea cruise Nils
  5. Very nice decoration on the sweeps Druxey, the dolphin looks painted 3D, well done ! Nils
  6. thank you Gerhard, the soldering will last until the ship is complete......, but for the railings I did`nt use seperate stanchions and wires this time ( too fiddely and too fragile scale ! ) Luckily I found some copper photo-etched railing in 1:144 scale and some stairway ladders , here for forecastle access, in matching scale.... Nils
  7. Hi Patrick, great work, To round it up, looks like you thought of every thing. How about some cool cocktail and champagner slurping gents and dames and the skipper amoungst the guests being admired for the party..... Nils
  8. Hi Chuck, love this pic, it presents the precision of a clean build, wonderful planking, sternpost and rudder in complete harmonie, and I feel the triangle framing timber on lower transom and side planking tops the sight, just lovely Nils
  9. Many thanks Greg, Denis, and Patrick, and all the "likes".... for the nice comments I`m thinking about the foremast shrouds, their fastening basepoints, turnbuckle srews, and the ratlines (yes, this old passenger steamer bears ratlines) Nils this nice pic, once kindly sent from Peter ("Mr. Hollom") shows the port side shrouds and ratlines Also nice look on the second breakwater passing through the forecastle railing. Here the bow takes a wet dip into the sea from ahead...
  10. Very nice build Charlene & Jerry, you`ve nearly managed to do the Bounty in one years time, that is quite swift for such a model...., and the result is very good so far Nils
  11. Sounds great John, do you perhaps have plans or a nice picture of the "Herzogin Cecilie" although you "only" appointed for the boats ? Nils
  12. very nice build Ofencer, I presume there will be no rigging ? (masts only cut off dowels) Nils
  13. Update Foremast finished and ready for mounting to ship later on.... The blocks are all left-overs from my HMS Pegasus build The buff color is silk-finish, resin based, called "Desert Sand" (Wüstensand) Nils
  14. Thanks for your much appreciated compliment Glenn, I`m glad you like the model so far, it`s still a long way to go though....... I had a good look at your steamboat "Heroine", which is utmost interesting to watch as it grows, lovely propelling machinery... Nils
  15. Glenn, that machinery (engine, flywheels, paddlewheels) and now the excellent quadruple tube boiler station look superb. This for sure is a trip into vintage steam machining history of a great period, also the combination wood / metal. I love that ship, what can be seen so far... Nils
  16. A beautiful ship Peter, congrats my freind... and well presented with those lovely pictures Nils
  17. Thank you Martin, for your nice comment on the lanterns, fortunately my wife always askes me before things (out of forgotten corners) get tossed away, and also its very fortunate if you have a room for yourself to bunker such things Am looking out for your update progress on "HMS Fly" Martin ? Here`s a little impression what my desk looks like, without tidying up every time..... Nils
  18. I`m with B.E., Vitus thats a beautiful built "Swan Class", also very nice pictures Nils
  19. Piet and Michael, thank you so much for your nice compliments, I`m glad the metal work is liked, it gets a bit tricky with limiting the heat flow to spot areas when soldering, because it`s mostly done with the mini gas torch, but it is a good exercise Nils
