Hi all, Just an update, got some work done on the masts, they are assembled but not ready to mount still need do do some detail work to them, sorry only a couple of pics...I got so wrapped up in the build I forgot the camera. They did take a bit of tweaking to get the spacing where I wanted it. also got the bollards shaped and mounted...pics follow J -
Hey Daniel, Followed the link you provided on SOS, I'm intrigued by this side of the hobby...for one thing you can fit a whole fleet in small spaces So bendy masts are the secret huh, I'd have never guessed. Following with interest J

I've re-posted all the early pics that disappeared into the great unknown, hope these copies stick Thanks for your interest J -
Your HM launch is looking good and the lion's heads are coming along, I had the same issues with mine...I ended up hitting them with a flat clear... painting them red... flat clear... brown acrylic wash... flat clear... red dry brush...flat clear...red highlight...flat clear...well you get the picture, I'm surprised they didn't turn out an inch thick :D any way even with all that they need to be handled with kid gloves. Still working on the masts for mine, mast cap blocks are fighting back...the kit ones just suck, all made from end grain, already broke 2, hole spacing is bad, anyway I'm in the process of making new ones. Nice work on your Moon J

Hey all, Got a few more tasks completed on the HM, masts and yards have been tapered and sanded and dry fitted to the hull. Also spent some time scratching a little detail that no ship would ever put to sea without...but is very rarely if ever modeled? Pics follow J -

Thx my friend, I'm sure what ever you come up with, mine will pale in comparison... :im Not Worthy: I bow to the master of bash!! -
Hey Popeye...As you've warned so many... watch out for the scratch bug , those laser cut pieces look like potential ribs to me..The plastic shell could serve as a good planking buck...if you glued the planks with PVA it would pop right out ...just a thought. Will you paint her out when she's done? J

Hey Pete really looking good, I mirror Jay;s comments on the mast, how did you go about do the taper? J

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
