That is really nice work Rusty; another gem from your dockyard - be sure to give the crew an extra rum ration!

    Shipyard Update:
    Ratlings:

A bit of an update to where the "rats" are at.
A good two weeks of part time tying knots > the Fore and Main mast lower shrouds are done.

Taking shape with lower ratlines on Fore and Main Masts

    Fore Mast Stb Ratline

    Main Mast Starboard Ratline

Some close ups of the ForeMast ratline - knotting in progress.

Above: The process I followed was to tie every 6th full length ratline first(loops each end), followed by the intermediate 3rds(shorter by 1 shroud).
Aim being to hold the shrouds evenly, then fill in the pairs between(where the clamps were).

Above:  Each ratline from the jig was tied to the shroud with 2/half hitches to the loop, then 2/half hitches about each inner shroud towards the rear.
Every 6th looped to the back shroud.
The 5 ratlines between the 6th's, half hitched 1 shroud back.
At the bottom, every 6th first (red end line #4, blue length) and then the 3rds (blue #1 & 7, with pink highlight for the length)

Above: Further up, every 6th first (red end line #10) and then the 3rds (blue #13, with pink highlight for the length)
This way I kept track of the type and length of each ratline I added.

    Mizzen Shroud Ratlines:
Setup the paper template on the Starboard shrouds, and made a start this week.

I decided to loop each end of the Mizzen ratlines to the shrouds.
Close up of the end loops. Shows the loose ends not cut cleanly though. Hard to trim them off close without cutting the loop.

    Plenty more to go.

Details like the ones in the following pics are sucking up a lot of time . I've fitted all the PE portholes to the two lower decks. I decided to leave the rims in brass, because I like the effect, but I painted the "eyebrows". The lids are extras, made with my punch, because the printed ones looked way out of place against the PE rims. Oddly, the ones on the fore section of the deck are smaller than the aft section (1.6mm and 2.0mm). I don't know if this was a mis-print. The detail on the larger ones is a lot better :

There are six ladders on the aft section :

Also two lots of 1.6mm Step Irons, which I bent using the jig I made for Amatsukaze :

And finally 12 small boxes, two larger ones, a couple of raised "doors" and two more grilles. I still need to do a bit of filling and paint touch-ups :

You have done a terrific job on all your paintings, Jim.  I hope that does not sound condescending, rather it is intended to convey my pleasure in viewing your work.  I especially like the Falklands poetry painting as somehow you have conveyed the bitter chill in the air in those climes.

The explosion ... keep it dust free ... well yes, if it stays under water Problem with casting is you can't get at it anymore, it's just a block. If I do the casting wrong, I won't even see the sub ... although, then I could say it is submerged in the North Sea  <lol>

Thank you Michael, and welcome to the build .

The tops of the curved bulkheads are fitted on an angle. Two of the kit ones were too narrow, so I used the wider ones for the ones that were the narrower of the two and cut two wider ones from spare sheet :

The PE I bought is of very good quality. Here are a couple of examples of some of the parts that replace card ones :

The two Catapults for the Seaplanes. The fit was excellent, but no instructions were supplied with them. I eventually worked out how they went together. I forgot to take pics of them before painting :
