Loads of pictures... Building the frame, I wanted to be able to take the finished deck away while working on it. Not exactly the same but once painted i think it will be pretty good.

Finally managed to finish the outside of the hull, took some time and had a few issues but I think I can now continue with the inside. The lid with only one thread needs attention at some point, the supplied part didnt have the hole to feed the thread through.

Thanks grant, yeah walking away for a while really does help. Mark, I simply cut 3 different sizes of dowl and sanded each down so as not to have them too far out, not historic but Im happy with it. Kevin, yeah the Yellow does look nice, I wanted to keep the wood showing through so I watered the paint down and added small amounts of talc to prevent it from becoming too shiny, so only 2 light coats, I didn't want to over do the paint.

Nice as Coppering the hull is, BUT I want more (no surprise there) but seriously I know in my mind exactly how I want this Cross Section to look, and the 2 pictures below show what direction I want to go. close up

I used for the first time some 'Blacken it', seems to work ok but they came out a little grey rather than black, not a problem. I thought I'd have a few beers before starting this..ha, flippin' worked as well there we go, what do you think so far.

Work continues the the Cross Section, but just to say I've walked away from it for a few months as I was trying to figure a way of doing those scroll moulding, a method I couldn't get, as much as good folk suggested methods I wasn't happy with the result. So while I have this week off I decided to carry on and complete the outside of the hull, I've already scratch build the ladders/steps, re made the Fenders, basically taken everything off what Id had originally done and sanded the paint off.. didn't like the gloss effect on the paint. Thanks to again some good folk around here have tried a different method of painting and getting rid of the gloss effect. The problem Ive had is I want it perfect for me, I look at other who seem to find it very easy to come up with a perfect result first time, maybe they done a ship or 2 before, for me..nope, first one, I dont want to have spent this much money and make a mess, BUT..I decided it's taking over the whole idea of why I love model making, so with that in mind Ive managed to get my foot back in the door and have completed the scrool moulding MY WAY at least a way Im happy to live with. Pictures will be posted later today, painting has started, looks better..no looks good. So there we go, I continue to make this model and not to try to make the real thing, lets say my interpretation of HMS Victory Cross Section. As promised some nice piccy's The new mouldings and scroll..finally, im happy with it Taped up ready for painting, this time with Talc in the paint to dull it down a little. Scratch built fenders and ladders After paitning, yep..thats what I was after..perfect (in my eyes anyway)

a few things how I did....first time at scratch mouldings (also using the mobile camera so quality is not 100%) using the 'bamboo' supplied as it's a hard wood I trimed it down to 3mm. As this was my first time I decided to just make the cutter with out actually knowing what I wanted. Using my dremel I attached the tool and cut. Clamped the wood strip down. and started scraping... ...the result ..bit of sanding the edges... done:) here's how I keep my wood selecion now....I know it works for me!!!!

Just love the Victory, especially when you put some string on 'em, look so powerful. Really nice.

some work on the scroll moulding today and a little painting. I'm not entirely happy with the paint, the black is a little glossy for me, but these are Caldercraft paints so I guess its right.

Thanks Daniel. Done some more work to, we had the grandchildren over time was limited:) Finally today I found a setting that doesn't yellow my picture, just need to tweak it a little but now I don't have to adjust it in Photoshop. You may notice I've changed the mouldings, I wasn't happy with the size of them, just needed to re scale them down a bit. First very watered down coat of black, this will be sanded back a little, then build up the coats. Internal painting underway as well. ..and now the scroll mouldings, as suggested by a friend..'green stuff', seems to work ok, plus I had a go at using wire. and my wonderful grandchildren during our adventure in the woods.
