Was looking around MSW today welcoming new members. then looked at the dates they were from 5 years ago lol stick to what you know Bob lol, any way here are a few up dates I really have to thank MSW for all the help at first I thought you cant do this but people here have so much knowledge and skill that if I run into problems I can find a way to fix it here. Never thought this would be this fun, making a ship from a set of plans, planking ,rigging, sail making. I know I will be a builder of ships the rest of my life lol. So first, this is how I did my shroud lines and dead eyes i spaced the dead eyes for easy threading then double checked even triple checked to see if it the right distance for dead eyes

was looking on MSW for how to do the sails I need to look some more, on how to stain them make them look like they are in the wind. Deadeyes are coming along ,I tied them on, but will cut them off because after gluing them on they wont move and cant thread them. So cutting then off and putting back non with wire .

Well after I made the stairs I well I made the stairs then painted them and installed them then anchors ,some door frame and the rudder, eagle head then the stand. Had some problems with the rudder nails seem a bit big but just going to cut the tops off and glue them on. The stand cost 12 bucks plus 2 bucks each for the little dowels . Not bad I like it, now going to build fences, and masts, and a whole bunch of little tiny block and tackle looking thingies. Tiny little eye hooks and the life boat, going to cover that with wood . But I got lots to do before I can get back to it But I am hooked so I sneak some model time in LOL

Some updates on my ship. I only get to work on my ship from time to time ,real work steps in, but making progress . Got most of the outer ship done a bit here and there, working on the ladders ,water pump, anchors ,fences ,thing like that. This has been so much fun really starting to enjoy this, cant wait to do the rigging lol more pictures to follow. It is starting to get easier, following other builds a lot more closely lol. Great builds with pictures to make it easier thanks so much. The following pictures are what I have done ,

Well its been awhile but I have been busy, life has thrown a few curve balls but that's life. I fixed the floor problem and the holes in the side of the ship, The instructions are hard to follow and I have glued the wrong size lumber on the side and for the wall. Oh well. it will look good when I finish it lol. I have lost some of my pics of the problems I had but enjoyed fixing them. Here is were I stand now. Plus ,I had to move the shipyard from upstairs to the basement, will be doing more as winter is here, snowing really good today LOL. The first pic is my new shipyard . # 2 is what I have done at the back of the ship. #3 is a side view .

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
