Powder and shot were put in boxes and moved to the ready position before engagement. Once an enemy was sighted and the crew was called to battle stations, shot and powder were transferred from the ammo locker to the guns. You have to remember it took some time to actually start an engagement once an enemy was sighted back in the age of sail. Crews often had hours before actually firing a shot after an enemy sighting.

Looks great. I have a question though. Wouldn't the binnacle be aft of the ships wheel so you can read the compass? As it is positioned it looks near impossible to do so. Either that or reverse the ships wheel mounting.

better to take the time off now and recover completely, than to go to work too soon and have a relapse.

Looks really good so far. That is a lot of hull to plank and sand.

Dave, you can use the knock out piece from the frame at that location for the template of the bulkhead/removeable panels. The tough part is deciding and making the windows, and the raised trim.

It has to be scratch built, and you'll find yourself taking many measurements to ensure it looks correct. It is a challenge to get it looking like the plans. Take your time with it and you'll do just fine.

That sounds very familiar Dave. I'm seriously thinking of starting over with a brand-new kit and just use some of the assemblies I know fit.

That isn't a horseshoe , that is a plank bending tool.
