Hello Popeye, No, the instructions didn't say that the bulwark tops needed to be cut off. It was my decision, because the tops were not even. Some were bending inwards, some outwards, and others were straight. Good luck with the task! Hello Wayne and Sherry, Thank you both for the compliment. It is appreciated. I like the color as well. It turned out very nice. Thank you all for looking in at my build. And my apologies for missing your posts earlier today. Take care, Anja

Hello Norman, Welcome aboard, This is a great site for learning/sharing tips and techniques. I hope you will join us by contributing your buildlog here. You'll find plenty of help from everyone. And age just doesn't matter. Most important is that you're having fun and enjoy your build. To answer your question. Do you mean the Italian measurement 'braccio'? To convert braccio to inches you can use this program: http://www.convertunits.com/from/braccio+[italy]/to/inch If you mean the European measurement centimeters, you can use this program: https://www.google.nl/search?q=van+centimeter+naar+inches&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=nl&client=safari My advise is to start a buildlog of your ship. You can start a buildlog here: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/53-before-you-post-your-build-log-please-read-this-starting-and-naming-your-build-log/ This topic explains how to add pictures in your posts: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/540-how-to-add-pictures-in-your-posts-and-pms/ Good luck, Anja

Hello Tarbrush, Thank you for looking in at my build. The deckplanks are Mahogany strips with one layer of clear varnish and one layer of stain. The last picture shows the wood used for the second planking of the lower hull, Tanganika. The stain is water based and just of a dark colour. A sort of Walnut / dark Oak colour. I'm sorry, but I saw that I didn't wrote the brand down in my log. The pore-filler is a sort of milky liquid which leaves the wood a slightly, darker colour after it's dried, but you hardly notice it. It is difficult to obtain just the right colour you want. The thickness of the layers and color of the wood also determines the end result. I hope this will be of some help to you. Take care, Anja

Hello all, An update, as promised. I placed and glued the headpanels on the hull. The front end isn't glued yet. I decided to cut off all the bulwark tops, because the difference in size was just too much to correctly place the 'new' inner bulwarks. The inner bulwarks were then glued in place. I put in a waterway, wide enough to cover the spots where the bulwark tops used to be. So, the waterway may be just out of scale. Still have to decide what to do with the finish of the hull. See last picture. I think I will go for the one with the pore filler and stain. That has a nice colour and smooth surface. Thanks for looking in and take care, Anja

Milord Popeye, That's what it says: 'Laser cut parts are keel, keelson, transom, rudder, stern knees, deck beams and framing jig. Milled stock is framing material, ledges, carlings, channels, hatch coamings, windless barrel and bracket bracket, deck house, cap rails, wales, keel shoe and upper hull planking'. Take care and give my regards ro Milady Phyllis. Anja
