Hello Adam, Nice of you to stop by. Thank you very much for your kind words and the compliment. It is appreciated. The Hannah will have some laser cut parts, so it won't be a complete scratchbuild. I also feel a bit like It will be a big challenge. But I'm looking forward to it. Thanks again and take care, Anja

Hello Pierre, Enjoy your stay in France. Take care, Anja -
Hello ZyXuz, I'm back for another look at your Race Horse. Yes, I was afraid you would have to resand the hull again. But it turned out good in the end. And we both learned a lesson to use pre-stain or wood conditioner first. The dark colour of the hull is a nice contrast with the blue/white. Looking forward to your progress. Take care, Anja

Hello Augie, Welcome back. You have been missed. I'm glad your Syren survived the coke attack. And never mind it is hard to see, we just enlarge the picture. I will wait patiently for the 'overview shot'. Enjoy your fishing trip tomorrow. Take care, Anja

Hello Augie, I know, I'm letting you down and I'm sorry. But I'll be just one forum away. And I already reserved you a first class seat in the front. Feel better now? I keep telling myself over and over again that scratchbuilding is much better for me than a kit build. I think for me, it is much more enjoyable than building from a kit. And my ultimate dream is to scratchbuild the VOC ship 'Prins Willem'. So, that is why I start with the Hannah. Not just yet though. I just placed the order yesterday, so it will be some time before I can start. First I finish the Half Moon. Make sure she is ready for her maiden voyage. Take care, Anja PS - Yes, Sjors know about this. And I may borrow his tools

Hello Nigel, It's nice to see a Sovereign of the Seas build by DeAgostini. Your planking looks great. I understand you're not using everything provided in the kit. But the parts you do use .... Will you wait for all the parts in a group so you will have all the component parts and the magazine instructions together to be able to build it without interuption? Looking forward to your progress. Anja

Hello Harlequin, Welcome to my buildlog and thank you for the kind words and compliment. It is appreciated. Yes, I agree. When you start planking, that's when she's beginning to take shape and look like a real ship. After that the fun begins. Dressing her up with the deck fittings, mastst, the rigging etc. Looking forward to that. Thanks again and take care, Anja

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
