    Hello Alex, It's great to see another Bracera being build. I will follow along. I'm glad you fixed the clinker effect. I like the dark color of the stain. What stain did you use? Elmir (Wishmaster) is also building the Bracera using the same plans. He is doing a scratchbuild. Take care, Anja

    Hello Jack, Looking good. Nice fix on the bulkhead. The only nautical term I could find for 'cavallino' is a 'deck flare'. A flare is a curvature of the topsides outward towards the gunwale. Does athat make any sense to you? Anja

    Hello Elmir, Don't worry, I'm no expert on sails either. I found this article on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bracera It shows pictures of the sails used on the different types of Bracera's. I'm sorry Wayne, but I think Andy is right. Take care, Anja

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
