I agree - nice job.You may recall my deadeyes were not all drilled on center either but I think that after the lanyards are rigged it won`t be noticeable.There are so many other inaccuracies that I am not going to spend all the extra time to fix them.Besides that if I break or damaged one I don`t know if I could find a replacement as mine are triangular & I don`t have any extras.I would really hate to try & make one to match.

I noticed on a previous post you mentioned a shield on the front rail.My kit came with this casting.I painted it but never installed it.Still have not decided whether to put it on or just leave it off.Any opinions are welcome.Nice work by the way.

Nice looking rigging.Did you use the Corel rope or someone elses?Or did you make your own?

Nice adaptation of the Corel parts.I did get the impression that the Amati chainplates might be too fat for your scale.Did you ever consider filling the gaps in your chainplates with solder & filing them flat?I don`t know if solder will even stick to your parts as they appear to be blackened.

I see that you have also installed rudder chains.Been wondering what those 2 decorated openings were for.I could never find out for sure whether that was their purpose.Still trying to decide whether to put them on mine. :mellow:

A small update - have been working on the masts.I tapered them on my lathe & assembled the trees.Built the small pulleys under the trees by chucking a dowel in the lathe & using a very small round needle file formed the groove in the pulleys.Then cut them of & filed a little.Not perfect but I think they look ok.Will be hard to see anyway after the rigging is on.All the parts are in walnut so they are a little darker then I would have preferred.No finish has been applied yet.May not be posting many updates for awhile as I am scheduled to get my ailing shoulder fixed in about a week.

I actually started both kits at the same time.I was going to build them side by side but once I got really going on the Sergal kit the other one got put on the back burner.I got as far as the first planking done but seeing all the problems I just set it aside for later.I don`t know if I will continue with it after my current build is done or start something else & come back to it later.

Well I guess we modelers are not the only ones making mistakes.

I feel for you - seems as though it would not have been that hard for Corel to design them a little better.I will watch to see what approach you take to make them better as I also have the Corel kit also.Maybe you can come up with some kind of jig to make new brackets with your new milling machine.

Don`t dread the rigging too much.Try what I do - think about it as just one rope at a time & you will be amazed at how it starts to come together.

That`s very interesting.My kit had those small figures also but I didn`t think they looked right up high so I put them in the gallery openings instead.Looks like I guessed right!

Thanks everyone.Despite the kit inaccuracies it does have some good points.There`s no way I could have made all those little brackets from scratch with my meager abilities.

Started work on the masts - been asssembling the tops.All the parts are laser cut & fit nicely although they are quite fragile until assembled.Didn`t try to file or alter them as I was afraid they would fall apart in my hands.

Pictures are extremely slow loading - hope they came through ok.
