Wow - that is quite the kit! My Constructo Prince is listed as 1/61 scale & 35 inches long - seems a little short for that scale. Does yours have a length listed?

Thanks OC - I found a method to make them in someone`s log(can`t remember who at the moment, but many thanks to him). The illustration shows to use 12 turns of rope, but I thought that was too many for my application,so I used 8 turns of .5mm black thread. I also used thinned white glue instead of super glue to keep the ropes from loosening or sliding down. This method is the best I have found & really works well. You may be able to find this by typing "wooldings" into the search box.

My vote goes to the vintage one - the newer one looks like a cross between a horse & lion. You would think a newer design would be better, not worse!

Well, for what it`s worth here`s what I did on mine.
This was built about 20 years ago so it is probably incorrect. I built it with the bowsprit centered. I put the 4 false guns in the upper openings & put lids on the lower 4. After looking at mine it doesn`t seem right - I don`t know how they would fire the lower guns without hitting the planking that curves around the front . I was pretty much a novice then so I just built it to look like the picture on the box.

marktiedens got a reaction from catopower in Has anyone ever bought directly from Euromodel?
Hi Phil - If you contact piratepete007 he can answer any question you have about Euromodel. He writes the building instructions for their kits & is a member of this forum. He was extremely helpful to me when I was building the Royal William. I can tell you the Euromodel plans are probably the best you will find - very accurate & well detailed. I have not dealt with Euromodel directly, but I believe they are a quality company that cares about their customers & would not hesitate to buy from them.

Hi everyone - I have had this kit in the closet for quite awhile from Model Expo,so now is a good time to start it. After doing a little searching on the internet, this appears to be an actual ship - a Manila galleon of 50 guns that sank in 1750. The kit came in 6 boxes & upon opening the boxes there a number of laser cut wood sheets(mostly plywood) along with several plastic containers containing fittings & other small pieces. There are also the usual bundles of strip wood & dowels. Some of the wood will likely be replaced since much of it is a coarse grained reddish brown wood. One nice feature is it comes with pre-sewn sails ready to mount(no excuse for not putting sails on this one). It builds into a ship just over 1100mm long,so it shouldn`t be too hard to add some detail.it comes with written & pictorial instructions, but the only plan sheets provided are for the masting & rigging - none for the actual ship structures(not really needed because of the many pictures.

After adding the tack lines for the fore & main sails I`m calling this one done. The kit does include a ship`s boat kit,but I have decided to not build it.
Thanks to all that have followed along. I will add some pictures to the gallery soon. I`m not sure what I will build next - would love to do Chuck`s Winchelsea, but I don`t have a hobby size table saw to cut planks & can`t really afford to spend hundreds of $$ for one right now.

Hi everyone - more progress! Fist, the anchor davits were made from the supplied wood - the simulated sheaves were formed with a small round file after drilling the holes. Then the openings were made in the bulwarks & the davits were glued in place along with the knees. Next, I thought it would be a good time to do the roundhouses. The parts list showed them as pre-formed pieces, but darned if I could find them,so I made them from a walnut dowel cut in half & added some brass eyelets from the fabric shop. Finally the mouldings were added - they were made from some leftover brass moulding from another build
The caprails were then made from the supplied wood(sapelli). Since this wood is 2x12mm it was pretty much impossible to bend around the tight curves. The tightly curved areas were done by cutting small pieces to go around the curves, then after a lot of filing & sanding the joints they were painted black. You can see the joints in the close-up,but at arm`s length they look just fine. I think they pass the running horse test.

Hello friends - I am saddened to say this build is being terminated. I have got a terminal illness & don`t have the will or energy to continue. Not sure how much time I have left, so I will look in at your projects from time to time.
