  1. Very traditional tactics, Phil - trying to sink mines with rifle fire! 🙂 John
  2. Hello Jack, and a warm welcome to the forum from 'Down under'. John
  3. Bad luck, Phil; now we all know the black secret or the wheel! 😀 That wheelhouse looks very nice indeed. I hope most of that detail will be visible on the completed model. John
  4. I can't make head nor tail of your 'thing', Keith. When you clean up the image and zoom in it doesn't look like a tank to me, but I can't think of what else it could be. Given the type of craft it's on, it certainly wouldn't be anything complex or sophisticated. John
  5. Welcome home, E.J. This looks like a build I'll want to follow closely. I was fortunate enough to see the original in Stockholm a few years ago. What a ship! (Incidentally, in a conversation with our previous museum director about museums and attractions overseas, she said, "The only time I have ever just stopped dead and exclaimed 'Wow"! when entering a building was when going into the front doors of the Vasa Museum"). John
  6. Had a bit of a break between our holiday and starting treatment, so here's a final final update for a while! 🙂 The mizzen upper topgallants are now rigged and the sharp eyed might also notice that the fore lower shrouds are also sporting ratlines. Only one more square sail to go and then the full ratline, lower sheet, brace thing happens, plus some deck details I can't put on yet. The 'Duchess' will hopefully return to active duty in mid November! John
  7. Hello Roland, and a warm welcome to MSW from 'Down Under'. John
  8. hello dale, and a warm welcome to the forum from 'Down Under'. John
  9. Hello Matt, and a warm welcome to MSW from 'Down Under'. John
  10. I agree with JacquesCousteau - very impressive! John
  11. Off topic, I know, but I couldn't help noticing that you said that you'd amke a 'dog's lunch' of it. Over here we use the expression 'dog's breakfast'. Is 'lunch' the common idiom in the U.S., or is that a local/family thing? John
  12. All up to your usual standard, Ilhan. John
  13. Hello Jez, and a warm welcome to the forum from 'Down Under'. My advice would be to start a build log for your QE2 - easy was to get comments and ask for help. John
  14. Definitely books on the bookshelf, Phil! 😉 A nice pile electrical equipment there. John
