  1. Hello Greg.. This is Jerry this time. Many thanks for your kind remarks and of course your visit..So here's a few more photos of work I finished on Bounty today. Have a great evening.. Best, Jerry
  2. Hello Greg.. Thank you for visiting my long, long finished log. I sincerely appreciate your comments and wish you well. Best, Jerry
  3. Hello Ronald.. Congratulations on your ordering the Victory. I hope you have many good hours enjoying building her. The table came from Mayfair Furniture. Look them up on line and specifically check "coffee tables." The case was designed by me and custom ordered from a local plastic fabricator. You have plenty of time to worry about a display case ut when you are ready I'll give you more specific details. Again, the best of luck. Jerry
  4. Good morning, Mort.. It's been sometiime since I checked this site as I assumed it was over and done with. But lo and behold I noticed that there were two responses this morning and yours is one of them. It would be very inconvenient to open the case in order to measure the flags and pennant size. If you are planning to order them from Cornwall I'm sure if you mention that they are from the Jotika HMS Victory kit they'll surely know which flags you are referring to. I hope you will understand that it's not a case of laziness on my part but only that it's extremely inconvenient. I wish you well. Best, Jerry
  5. Hi Lawrence.. I saw the email you sent to Jerry about your trip and it looks like you two had a wonderful time. Thanks for looking in on my log and for your favorable remarks. it's been difficult to find time to work on the model because of all the extra work piled on at school. I asked Jerry to do some of the building so that the project can keep moving along. I believe he's going to make the next post which will reflect his contribution to this endeavor. Hope to see you building the African Queen soon and best to Bernadette. Charlene
  6. Well, David.. I guess you didn't get my personal message or haven't had the time to answer it. But no problem, I figured the issue out. I hope you are having a nice day and good luck to you with whatever you're up to. Best, Jerry
  7. Hello David.. I hope that you received my personal message and have the time for an answer to it. I love your Bounty and hope mine will look half as good as yours. Many thanks, Jerry
  8. Hello Heinz.. The purpose of this post is threefold. I wanted to say hello, to give you an update on my admiral's HMS Bounty and to tell you that your English is excellent. Charlene has finished planking the first layer of the hull and has done all the wood filling and sanding. She is getting ready for the walnut planking but first has decided to run a styrene strip around the hull to locate the waterline. She'll use the copper plates, you were so kind to send us, from the waterline down and use walnut strips from the waterline up. Keep up your wonderful work. Best, Jerry
  9. Thanks fo the posting, Don...Your beautiful work is much admired and your photos will surely help my admiral with the model once she gets that far. Hope your day goes well. Best, Jerry
  10. Hello Glenn.. Absolutely magnificent. I'm so happy that my friend David, Shipyard Sid, suggested that I visit your site. It's wonderful people like you who will allow our future model builders to appreciate the hobby. Best, Jerry
  11. Hey Popeye.. Many thanks for the birthday wishes. All is well now...it was Charlene that had some surgery and she's back planking the hull of the Bounty so she must be feeling better. She said to say hello. Best, Jerry
  12. Many thanks Lawrence and Bernadette for remembering my birthday. It's been very hectic around these parts for a few weeks with medical issues but all is well that ends well. I sincerely appreciate your good wishes and look forward to a long friendship with you two. Best, Jerry
  13. Good going, Dennis Best, Jerry P.S. The Half Moon makes a beautiful display. So far I haven't coverd mine with a display case. But I think I should.
  14. My pleasure, Dominic..I thought about sending you a picture of the fiished hull but the display case won't let me get a decent shot. However, as I mentioned, check my log, page 3... Best, Jerry
  15. Hello Dominic.. I just checked the whales on my Victory and they don't look any different than yours. Of course the hull has the black stripes on it but from what I can tell yours look perfect. That's just my opinion; it'll be interesting to hear what others have to say. If you'd like, check out my log... Best, Jerry
  16. Good to see the latest photos, Don. I really like your color scheme of the hull. We're at a standstill as the admiral just returned from having some surgery and we'll have to wait for some futher recovery before she can get going again. She does have some of the first planking strips attached but needs some filler block work before she can do any more. It's hands off for me as this is her build and all i'm allowed to do is "coach." Anyway, keep going with your beautiful work. Best, Jerry
  17. Good morning, Dominic.. Your Victory is undoubtedly outstanding. You are going to be so proud of her when the days ccomes to encase her. I think you are doing a terrific job. I am enjoying following your build. Best, Jerry
  18. I don't mean to be qute, David, (well maybe I do)..Did you really do that? Jerry
  19. Hello Dominic.. Just to add to the chorus, I had the same problem. I had to remove a couple of MM from the bottom of the starboard side bulwarks. Seems to me that Caldercraft (Jotika) has a design problem. Your planking looks great by the way. Best, Jerry
  20. Looks like Billings likes to use a lot of railings...Check my build, no such railings provided. Best, Jerry
  21. Hello Dennis... Quite a bit of difference between Corel and Billings. I really like the railings at the rear of the foredeck. Your build is coming along way way nicely. I haven't mentioned it before but i also love your color combinations. Looking forward to watching for more. Best, Jerry
  22. Hello Popeye... Good to see you back with the Half Moon. Looks like you're back in business again. Nothing new here just trying to help the Admiral with her Bounty which is in the hull planking stage. Using 1.5mm x 6mm stips is very difficult as they are hard to bend and work with. I think Charlene picked a very tough project for a first build. Good luck with your Half Moon; good to see you again. Best regards, Jerry
  23. Hey DS...Very nice. A see-through version, Looks terrific. Jerry
  24. Hello Don, I'm really glad i came across your build log. My admiral is building the Amiti kit of the HMS Bounty and is presently struggling with the initial hull planking. It's very difficult because of the thickness of the strips. They are 1.5mm thick x 6mm wide which makes them (even with adaquate soaking) , difficult to bend. She has managed so far to plank the first four strips heading down from the bulwarks. But from now on, it'll be necessary now to taper the strips. I realize that the kits are different but I believe the Bounty is the same and hence the main purose of this posting: She is using John McKay's "Anatomy of the Ship" as a guide. This book shows the huill to be copper clad. I have had experience building two ships with copper plates, the Cutty Sark and The HMS Victory. It was tedious but I felt well worth the results. She is planning to double plank the hull as called for in this kit and then to copper plate from the waterline down. The Amati kit shows a hull painted white but as mentioned above, McKay's book shows the hull copper clad. Just thought I'd mention it. Best, Jerry .
