  1. The workshop is now again for the Vasa, all activities for the living room are finished. the earlier pictures of some items were not correct, so here are the new ones made some rings to fix the canons, and made them black using Brass Black
  2. It is always best to use one plan. problems with using 2 different plans can occure, I made a same mistake in some parts of my Vasa!! (bow part) I have compared now partly the Corel plans with the sources I have till now, and the Corel plan looks ok, some minor differences, but I am also using this to avoid further problems.
  3. That is a nice machine, it is also on my wishlist. I shall forward your post to my son and daughter for a late birthday present but I expect that I have to buy this later myself  Looking forward to see your results of scratch parts for the Vasa and other new models
  4. started with some deck parts and the preparations of the mat tops, I did not liked the supplied versions by Corel from now I will b a regular poster again. I noticed I have to make some better pictures with daylight.
  5. my living room is almost finished. just some custom made small cabinets for CD's and remote controls etc and then I can continue. next days I will start to prepare a belaying plan and locate all belaying points furthermore I will start some preparations for the masts etc. (I have no interest in the small painting work after the big painting job in my living room )
  6. looks very good, you are giving me every step idea's to complete my Vasa also better. Thanks. I noticed also that these figures are not correct according the original
  7. Thanks Anja, your congratulations are appreciated. I expect to finalize my living room within 2 weeks (I have to work between the weekends )
  8. Looks very good Andre. I was also planning to add these handrails as these are not in the Corel kit but are on the original. your construction looks very good, but I am a little bit afraid that this will be a fragile construction, specially when working on the rigging later on.
  9. This looks very good Michael I assume that you got your inspiration for these modifications again from the original. I saved a copy of your pictures for my reference as I am planning to start with these details during my X-mas holiday (14 days off)
  10. your progress looks very good. you give me some idea's to be checked on my own build within the next months
  11. the coming weeks I am busy in my living room. have some days off from work to work for my other boss
  12. done some paintings for the Stern almost completed
  13. Jan, I have seen the original model in Stockholm last year. My goal is to have globally the same impression as with the 1:10 model in Stockholm using the sculptures delivered with the kit by Corel. It could absolute not be identical as several structures are complete different with the original, but that is expected to be caused as the kit was designed already in the 70's and not modified based on the latest information. You can recall a discussion we had on a Dutch forum about this, after which I decided to build the kit as it is with modifications, but knowing that it could never be a good replica of the original in Stockholm.
  14. Started with the painting work for the attributes for the Stern
  15. A tip for all Vasa builders active here: There is a forum started by Clayton (known from his perfect scratch modell in 1:50 of the Vasa) and with a special section to ask questions to Fred Hockner (the Vasa Specialist working at the VasaMuseum and author of several Vasa books) This forum is replacing the old yahoo newsgroup which has become very user unfriendly. http://warshipvasa.freeforums.net/
  16. this looks perfect. does remind me to my visit to the museum in Stockholm last year
  17. As I am going to start with a big job in my livingroom (new floor and painting) I have made the standard as enclosed with the kit to store this kit safely during these activities. I need the workspace for my models to store and prepare paintings etc etc. I expect to restart during my X-mas holidays but keep online regulary
  18. in one word: Perfect this high level of retrofit the Corel kit will be to much for me, but some details I might use.
  19. Hi Michael I will verify this in one of my books of the Wasa tomorrow. if I can find a good detail about this part I will post this here
  20. made a test with varnish I used varnish which is used for old looking furniture the varnish is water based
  21. thanks for sharing these perfect pictures from the original I feel more and more that I should have bought the Billing kit instead of the Corel kit. the basic of the kit is better from Billing Boats as far as I could see now. during the time I was verifing both kits there were almost no buildlogs available from this BB kit. for all new builders this will be a good comparison with the other Corel kits on this forum. I am curious how the figures are detailed even if these are from plastic (once painted you don't see the difference)
  22. de rebuild stairs and a start with the construction for the pin rails
