  1. continued with the bowsection you never have enough lime clambs
  2. rebuild of the floor in the bowpart is completed.
  3. Just a quick question. I see some ropes on the back of your ship. what will be the function of these. I might have missed this in your previous posts. I cannot recall this on my drawings from Corel
  4. I am still thinking about how to finish the wood. My first idea is to paint the wood partly in dark red like the 1:10 model in the Museum all decorations are already partly painted with matt paint (Humbroll) the old look you are refering to is done by using only wallnut wood. I replaced all other wood, specially the plywood parts at this time I did not use any paint or varnish to the wood the canons are directly out of the box as delivered by Corel, so no modifications or paint is done, I expect these deck items to be completed once the autumn has started. the galleries are a free impression based on your start.
  5. doors are almost finished further a simple glueing clamp for the first planks
  6. This is looking good Ulises. I found out also that these blocks are not available anymore, I used these also on my Statenjacht, but I do not have enough blocks now for my Wasa. Maybe we can locate an alternative supplier for the same blocks as JBmodels delivered in the past.
  7. I have started to redo the bow section as there were some failures first the problem was that the planking in the bow section was not correct and second the doors were not correct after thinking this issue during my holiday in the sun with over 30 degrees I decided to remove the wrong parts and start again as the weather forecast for tomorrow is extreme high temperature (35 degrees) I might continue with an extra fan in my workshop.
  8. Hi Andre, This point reminds me an hint I received from another Wasa builder to setup each item without glueing and check for further stages. I made this mistake and cannot correct all items anymore. But before fixing the outer parts I used the brass figures for the correct location, I will verify these again. another problem is that I made some modifications without checking the consequences to later stages, like the canon openings.
  9. again a very nice modification to the Corel kit. I admire your modifications and luckily you are further with your build then I, so I can decide to change some of your modifcations in my Vasa. (I do not use all your modifications, as I am trying to build this further on without extra materials)
  10. in the mean time continued with the gallerij: and the bow and some small items in the basic paint
  11. welcome here for an other Wasa. we are getting here a real Wasa community
  12. Finally holiday, so some spare time to work on the Vasa The guard of the King is visiting the yard last stage of the galleries and fixed the first channels
  13. Nice to this build, I watched this kit also during my visit to the museum last year in Stockholm, but my wife found 1 kit of the Wasa enough.
  14. Hi Michael please check the pictures on this website http://www.modelships.de/Museums_and_replicas/Vasa-Museet-Stockholm/Photos-Vasa-ship.htm here you can see the locations of the extra openings, assuming these are the watering openings you are looking for. (I have these pictures all printed and use these in my workshop, maybe in the future an old computer is easier)
  15. Anja and Jan, thanks for your comments I should use the book of Montfeld when typing a post in English
  16. Thanks for your comments Matti also a dry-fit for the mounting strips (I do not know the correct name in English)
  17. finalizing the parts on the railing (pins for belaying) prepared the first clamps: and continued with the galleries
  18. Hi Matti, I wish I could join you in visiting the Museum for a 2nd time.. when building a kit you have always to make compromises with supplied materials in the kit and verifying with the original. we can see here that everybody makes his own deviations in his kit, I feel this personally as a good aspect of the creative part of the shipmodelling
  19. Hi I just noticed your buildlog this week for the first time. looks great specially the modifications i saw you did to the standard kit
  20. Hi Wim, this handrail is something I want to do in the future, but at this time no preparations are made for that. I will first findout if other Wasa builders made this also in scale 1:75 and discuss with them about their experience.
  21. and then you have to consider that there should an extra handrail. but as this will be to fragile during this stage of the build I am waiting for that till my build is almost ready.
  22. I am making some modifications to the original kit, based on pictures as taken during my visit to the museum and from other builders like http://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/329-wasa-by-md1400cs-corel-175/ do not expect a soon completion as I am still working for my job and do have little spare time for this build
