My plan at this moment is to use the drawings from Corel and provide the masts as shown on these drawings, so this should include the topgallant mast sections. As we are planning to move to a new use within the coming year, I have already agreed with my wife to prepare a good location in our new living room for the Vasa once completed. I am lucky for this as my wife also has a hobby with showing their results in the living room (origami) so this gave no discussions as some others will have to show a finished model in the living room.

very nice workshop, looks really professional Good idea for you dustcollection system to all your machinery, I can maybe use this in the future also. in my perfect workshop there will also be a place for a computer/laptop so I can verify my builds with other pictures collected.

congratulations with this result once more I see now the differences between the various kits. I can imagine your problem were to place your perfect Vasa. I can suggest to move to another house with a spare room for all your models

Continued with the platforms and during drying of the glue also continued with the masts an uncontroled dryfit of the masts

the above described methode was not correct I have redone this using an flexible wood in small strips as I felt very good with this methode, I will now continue with the other 5 platforms

Finally some time to restart my build. first tried to bend this ring for the top bordes for the main mast (I do not want to use the ring as provided by Corel)

For the Corel the instructions are also very poor. The rigging plan however seems to be better. But to be sure we have to wait for the updated drawings from the museum( expexted end of this year)

Thanks for your comments Michael. I hoped Vasa II would be issued before I start with the rigging. I am going to complete all the masts, but I will not start with the rigging. We are at this moment trying to sell our house and want to move than to a new bigger house. once started with the rigging, transport will be very difficult. but before I need to start with the rigging there is lots of work to do. If, what I do not hope, the sale of my house is delayed, I have some other models to complete also. we have now a growing group of Vasa builders here on MSW and we are learning more and more from each other as we are most of us almost in the same stage of completing the hull and preparing for the big rigging job. regards Jan

I did not study the rigging jet, I was waiting for the book Vasa II, but understood yesterday from Fred Hocker that this will take some extra time. I am planning to go through the rigging in detail during the summer period, hopefully having all the drawings on my garden table and with a lot of sun. I have also some background information available on my computer about the Dutch Rigging technics in that period, but I need to study that also. based on that study I will prepare all the masts with the correct fixed blocks etc. before finally mounting them.

No so I will need to make them myself. I think I shall ask my mother in law again like with my Statenjacht. I intend to use the same materials as I sent to you. -

Hi Michael, The hinges are chemical prepared, I used Brass Black for this. I do not like the unprepared brass for these boats I have with a previous model already some experience with this Brass Black and it is very good and quick to make the brass items perfect black. I do not know if this is available in a model store in the USA, but it is also used for guns so maybe a gun shop can help you with this.

an the other side is also mounted now only the gunports near the galleries (needs to be closed) and in the rear.
