  1. Greg, I really haven't figured that out yet. Before I unbolt the model from the building board to fair the hull, I intend to mark and frame the gun ports, ventilation and sweep ports, which will aid in strengthening of the hull. I will fair the inside of the hull and mark the location of the deck clamps and maybe install a few for strength. I then intend to unbolt the hull, add the keelson, then fair the outside of the hull and put in the frame bolts/fastenings. I then need to figure a way to secure it back on the board to continue the build. I should probably embed nuts in the keelson to receive bolts from under the building board? Regards, Clay

  11. Thanks Ron! Here are a couple of shots of the builders draughts from the NMM. As you can see they are now reproduced in color and can provide some interesting insight into some of the differences between the various ships of the Apollo/Euryalus class of the 36 gun frigate. Various modifications were added using different color inks coded to different ships of the class (difficult to see here). This is why it is always a good idea to include the actual draughts in your research.
  12. As I assemble and "hang" the frames, I fair the inside framing as I go. I am saving the fairing of the outside of the hull until after I finish the framing of the hull. I am also gluing in the filling pieces between the frames as I go. It is very important to securely bolt the keel down to the building board to minimize the warping of the keel as the drying of the glue may cause the stern and bow sections to bow up from the board.
