Hi all and thanks for the comments and likes A bit more done the wings and tail fins have been fitted and the fuselage glue together. I have dry brushed the whole aircraft to give it a worn look. I have found out that she was hit by flack and number 2 engine caught fire but was put out quite quickly. It was replaced and a new cowl fitted but wasn't painted for a few weeks so I have shown this. Just a little bit more to do then she will be complete. Thanks for following Martyn

Hi all and a big thanks for the likes. A little more work on the old girl. I have painted the square G on the tail and I think it looks ok the biggest problem I had was with the numbers as I tried painting them but they looked rubbish so I came up with a cunning plan and modified the ones that came with the kit and some I had leftover from another kit I think they look ok and much better than I could paint. Cheers for following Martyn

May I say a big thank you for all the information Egilman and everyone who has looked in . Hears a few pictures. The fuselage and wings where painted with Tamiya USAF olive drab and the underside USAF mid grey . I have built up the cockpit which is very basic. It needed a bit of filing to get it to fit . Next job painting the logo on the side before I start putting it together. cheers for following Martyn

Hi all and a big thanks for looking in . I can't find a lot of information on this plane but she was damaged by flack which killed the ball turret gunner but was repaired to fly again. If anyone can find out more I would be very happy. Hears a picture of her and I believe her code number is232006. I will post some pics of the build later Martyn

I'm afraid not Lou the one I am doing is the one from the 385th bomb group located at Great Ashfield airfield near Elmswell Suffollk and she was painted olive drab . The church in the village has a memorial to the guys who didn't return. I must admit that other one looks very unusual with the camouflage on it . Thanks for looking Martyn

Hi all to stop me going gaga as I care for my wife so have to self isolate for 12 weeks I have decided to start a naw build from my stash. The model is a Airfix 1-72 scale B17 from 1978 . I am going to build it as Lil Audrey which is a aircraft that took off just behind where I live at Great Ashfield plus my 92 year old mother is called Audrey so it seems quite fitting. I will post some pics tomorrow keep safe all Martyn

Hi Martin and thanks for the great comments. The Deag Vasa is probably the most accurate one out there as Fred Hocker from the Vasa museum had a lot of input into the kit . There are still a few bits that need changing like the hallards as the rigging has been simplified probably for first time builders. Also there is a missing gunport on the quarter deck and a missing post ports but these are very easy to fix . The carvings are really good and there are a lot of them. I thoroughly enjoyed building this model and I really recommend it. Martyn

Hi Michael a visit to the Vasa museum is on my bucket list and I would love to see your pictures of the ships boat. There are a few bits missed on the Deag build like the hallard pulleys and the gunport on the quarterdeck but all in all its a cracking kit . Cheers for looking Martyn
