That looks fun Cristi... What is the name of the printer?

Have you tried to "smooth" the cannon with acetone? It depends on what plastic you use but I've seen som pretty good results with brushing acetone on "low res" prints...

For Mr Pucko, the printer is Anet A6, and for Y.T. the lenght of the gun (black part) is 12 cm

Thanks Frank1   Most of their chain is either too large or too shiny - what I found looks like dull steel & is about the right size. There is 11 yards(10 meters) on the spool - more than I`ll ever use.   Yes,this build has been a little frustrating at times - more than once I have thought about giving it a Viking funeral, but I`m too far along to do that now.

Thanks Mr.Pucko. Yes,those strips provided for hull planking are pretty stiff.  The few I used had to be shaped while wet & with a lot of heat - after drying they are near impossible to bend without snapping. More than half of mine were warped  - they make good kindling, though.

    Missed you 😊

Wow! That's some extra work you undertook with the strops and chainplates... And it looks fantastic!
I'm planking the hull now, but it's slow. The dark wood is so stiff I'm struggling with the bow even with a plank bender...

Hi everyone - took a little break while trying to figure out how to make the deadeye strops(not included in the kit). After trying numerous ways,I ended up bending some 20 gauge black copper wire around a drill bit that closely matched the size of the groove in the deadeyes, then inserted the deadeyes, soldered the legs together,& drilled a hole for the chain. The links for the chainplates are not provided either,so rather than try to make all the links I used actual chain  - found the chain at the local Michaels store which came on a large spool. The  deadeyes are only provided in 4 & 5mm sizes which are a bit small for this scale.  I didn`t want to buy a whole new set of larger deadeyes,so I just used what was in the kit.  Then I cut the lower mast sections to the correct length so I could get the angles of the chainplates  - another problem - the overall length of the main lower mast including below deck level where it seats in the keel is 490mm according to the plans but all the supplied dowels are only 450mm. Looks like they just cut the dowels to fit in the box, ignoring the plans. I had one long enough in my stash,so I used it. Only about 60 more strops to make.   Also,I managed to make all the gunport lids - another issue - the inner parts of the lids are 14mm & the outer parts are 16mm. the gunports are 14mm .so I used the inner parts for the outside & cut the outside parts down to 12mm & used them for the inside of the lids. Lid hinges are not provided, either,so I salvaged some leftovers I had - a little short, but they are difficult to see after the lids are in place( also didn`t want to spend more for a whole set of hinges).

    Thanks and Hello
Don't you sleep at night either?  I have received the brass wire so the fourth davit is made and I am witing for the paint to dry. I will paint the second half tomorrow and assemle it on monday.
I still havn't got the last chainplates I ordered last week so I am not happy witth the guy. I think I will stop ordering from him He is an old retired man who has the webshop as a hobby but maybe it is time for him to quit that too.
I clicked on the follow button on some of your logs, and others too but I must have done something wrong so I have to try again.
You asked if was bitten by the bug. It's worse  I bought a Chinese Djonk from Artesania Latina so now I have three ships going on. But this has highest priority.

It has been a week since my last update but not very much has happened. It´s all this small things that takes forever to make. But I have finished the railing at the bow and the rudder is in place so it is moving forward. But slowly.
I started to prepare the lifeboat davits and filed them before I bent them so of course one of them went off. Ok,I got one spare since I'm not gonna use for the compnionway. So I drilled holes but did not file it before I bent it, I thought I had learned from my mistake. This went off easier than the first one because of the hole in the middle. I am not too smart sometimes  I have ordered new brass rods and this time ..... 😂

Buy one and you'll find a use for it. It's got pens for India inking drawings and a large dividers and a small dividers and a couple of small compasses and a big one with an extension bar. Track "drafting" on eBay and they come up now and again. Look closely and make sure it's a complete set, though. A lot of times the parts have gone missing. The set pictured is actually missing it's "horn center." The horn center is a penny-sized round metal piece with three small points on the bottom and a piece of transparent horn material in the center. It is for placing on top of a point on a drawing that is used a lot to place a divider or compass point. The horn center thus prevents a hole from being worn in the drawing from the point placements. They are almost always missing from sets. The horn center would have set on top of the leather circle in the pictured cent.

This is how I made the rudder. I guess the original is more elaborate, but it's better than what DeAgostini wants you to do.

The deck. On the original almost no planks have the same width due to different nationalities working with different measurements. I did four butt shift

No where near the original but better than DeAgostini...

And here is the big problem. Theres almost no space to work on trying to do a good keel planking. This is my third attempt under way before she went in the closet waiting until all shipments have arrived.

I found the thin strips easy to peel off and easy to sand off, so when  you have taken the pictures for your blog you could always replank the keel and rudder...

You are doing a great job, and I wish I could do the painting you do.. I am way behind on that. Being colorblind takes away the fun in painting hundreds of figures...

I use only water stains to paint wood.
Deck - one layer of oak
Fenders - two layers of oak
Hull - a mixture of ash stain, rustical for a similar color as on the Vasa poster attached to the No. 1 notebook.

Painting the hull DeAgostini is a failure.

They will without a doubt not flopp'in around.  My avatar is a picture taken from my music "studio" but I am sort of tired with the music that is why started this new hobby. And now this has taken over. I hardly play anymore, I don't have time for that

Thank you so much for the offer but the new straps seems to be good. I am very thankful for all your help so it feels like I'm pushing it a bit too far if I ask you to send me stuff  You must be a very nice person👍. Yes, I think this ship is difficult so it's going quite slowly. But I do think that it will a nice ship when I'm done. I managed to scratch the hull when I did the bowbox so I will repair that with a bit of new paint
