  12. Today, was the day that the Finish line was crossed. I would like to thank everyone for the amazing comments and all the likes, I greatly appreciate it . This will be the last new posting for this build log, I will respond to comments and questions . So with the committee Boat behind me, here is what was done. Yesterday I applied 2 coats of Varnish to the mast , finished making the Main and jib. This morning I started by making the blocks and the main sheet traveler. I then rigged the Mast ( standing rigging) Next I installed the Main sail followed by the jib , ran all the halyards and sheets . In conclusion this Boat has been a pleasure to build and she went off without a hitch . Here are the results , the rest of the photos can be seen in the gallery
  13. Thank you Patrick, She's getting closer to completion , I am surprised with how well she went together with out a hitch , it's been one of those builds that everything works out , ( an absolute pleasure to build ) Thank you Popeye, I wanted to capture the essence that makes the Herreshoff Boats so beautiful Best Regards, Pete
  14. Thanks David B. , I am pleased with how the Cockpit and color combos turned out , The Teak on the benches really set her off nicely, along with the other wood colors, it would be nice to say that I planned it that way , the reality is that it just kind of fell into place. As far as a instruction book, I did not make one I generally build from a lines drawing ( obtained from the offset table ) and a construction and sail plan. as a reference I use Chapelle's book on Boat building and the Gougeon Brothers book on Boat construction. Thank you John, the Mast is a tall one ( over 32 feet ) she's going to carry quite a bit of Sail Best Regards, Pete
  15. Very cool Patrick, she's sure looking sharp. Nice work Best Regards, Pete
  16. Nice work John, I echo all the other comments . Beautifully done Best Regards, Pete
  17. Ok, were rounding the top mark and ready to make the downwind leg to the committee Boat. I started by making the Mast , first cutting the then tapering the Mast. Next I made the spreaders and drilled all the holes in the mast ( to accept the Halyards, Blocks and stays ) I then made the Boom and drilled the holes for the blocks and out haul. I then laid out and drilled the holes for the stays on the deck. And lastly made the tiller ( not glued in yet ) next will be to make the Blocks and Cleats along with the Sails. Here are the results
  18. Today, I thought about doing something different, so I decided that I would finish making frames for a Buzzards Bay 14, that I started working on a few weeks ago , I am building this one as if it were a 1:1 build but to 3/4" = 1' - 0" scale. I will be building one in similar fashion in a 1 1/2" = 1' - 0" scale soon and there will be a build log. in the meantime, here is what she looks like with the frames glued into the Keel
