  1. Bamboo is a different critter then and something I've never used or been around for anything other than chopsticks. I hope you can figure it.
  2. As I recall, basic street stock back then.. just a lap belt. I have a vague memory of them starting to require the "armor" when "funny cars" with nitro fuel hit. Some racers lost toes and parts of their feet. One side effect of the armor beside driver protection, was that a blown clutch or tranny didn't damage the framing though sometimes the body took some. If my memory is right, the rear engine dragster for top fuel was a Don Garlits invention due him having injuries cased by a front engine rail having it's clutch blow. Ah... thanks for that memory... bracket racing. The old "stock" classes were certainly a mixed bag of pros and those running the family sedan in same class before then. I had a lot of good times doing those, both as a driver and track photographer.
  3. It might be too late but you might think applying heat from a hair dryer after the soaking. Using the jig, I'd just carefully do the heating so as not to overheat the glue holding the jig together.
  4. I'm not sure when the NHRA started requiring flak jackets or the earlier steel shrapnel shields. I would guess it was a bit after this car was built. Or, the model maker just decided to not provide one which was also common on some kits.
  5. If you can't get to him that way, the website for CAF has a "contact us" area with an email address.
  6. I believe Tom sells his kits two ways... one is the complete kit. The other is what he calls "sessions" were the kit is broken down into sub-kits. You might contact him (he is a member here): cafmodel.
  7. Way back in the day, I took a hard look at Doom and Red Baron and tried to figure how to.... First person shooter wasn't all that hard but the coding was something else. Even got a hold of the code for Galgothia, (if I remember the title right). Basically another 1st person shooter but with different few points. You guys are way beyond that with full 3d or as close as one can get. One that really hit me hard was a flight simulator from an aircraft company. The amount of computer power was maddeningly huge. I admire what you guys are trying to do and hope you have success. Soooo much more complex and realistic compared to back then. I doft my hat and hope you have success in your efforts.
  8. I hope that carrying on goes well, Chris. I'd hate to hear you had a massive bonfire of those kits.
  9. I would think here: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/26-plastic-model-kits/ It's a sub gatagory from what Jeff suggested.

  11. I suspect you're right about the stove being a Brodie or equivalent. The supply chains back then for major items weren't very fast.
  12. That does sound like the military coffee I had in some places, but not all.
