  1. Hi Carl Thanks for your comments. Yep, she's tiny, but what a challenge it's been. I'm gonna miss working on her, once she's finished. I hope you can get back to your ships too, soon! Cheers Patrick
  2. Hi Bob You're on! Come launch day, we can enjoy a cocktail or two, whilst we watch Majellan cruise the waves. Oh well, we can only dream, can't we? Cheers Patrick
  3. Hi Steve Thanks! The "band aid" is a piece of masking tape which I used to cover the bow thuster holes; thus making them relatively water tight during Majellan's ill- fated floatation trials. Sadly, she promptly sank. I was horror struck, and haven't gotten around to removing the tape yet! Oh well... Enjoy your weekend Cheers Patrick
  4. Hi Nenad Thanks for dropping by. How does the saying go - "Good things come in small packages". In Majellan's case, yer, I guess she is pretty small, but an absolute giant compared to Piet's current topsail schooner. Have a great weekend! Cheers Patrick
  5. Hi Piet Many thanks! I'm liking where Majellan's heading too, especially now that things are back on track. Enjoy your weekend and promise me that you'll get back to your Surabaya soon! Cheers Patrick
  6. Thanks Frank! Truth be told, I'm not too keen on Rolex's styling. Somehow, they look old and dated, to me. I much prefer Omega, IWC, Oris, Ball, etc. Nevertheless, I agree with you that any form of product placement for the Swiss Watch industry wouldn't have been a bad thing. LOL. Have a good weekend! Cheers Patrick
  7. Hi Frank I hope that you can take the time to stop, look at what you've achieved and say to yourself "I did that". So often we don't, or can't see what others can clearly see. In my case, I see a brilliantly executed ship. Precise, beautiful, and skilfully engineered. Nice!! Cheers Patrick
  8. Hi everyone I hope you're all well. I've had a go at doing a few of those little niggly bits on Majellan that've I've been putting off for ages. They're tiny details and, therefore, are hard to see. Although they're still 'works in progress', they are: the tiny railings on the Sun Deck at the rear of the sun lounges; the antenna masts and the railings around the staircases on the Sun Deck and Bridge Deck. I hope you like the photos. Have a good one, everyone! Cheers Patrick
  9. Nice words and sentiments, Mark. Heaps of meaning there. Janet will be pleased. Cheers Patrick
  10. Hi Mark You're back!!!!! Great to see you posting again. Love the PBY. What a big boy that one will be. 48inch wingspan? Huge...but nice. Is she going to fly? Cheers Patrick
  11. Hi Mark Lovely, lovely work, especially with the pillars on the gallery tops. All the research that you've done is paying off, now. However, it's a shame about having to clean the workshop. Wouldn't your time be better spent making the mess, rather than cleaning it? I'm also intrigued by the 'dedication plaque'. I've always wanted to put similar plaques in my large RC boats, but never got around to doing them. Sounds like you're on the right track for doing one now. All the best! Cheers Patrick
  12. Hi Bob We may not be able to see photos of how you make the individual parts of your boats, but we certainly get to enjoy the final results each time you post an update. The forepeak with all of her machinery is looking really nice. Well done! Cheers Patrick
  13. Hi Vaddoc Thanks! You're absolutely correct about the hull needing some loving. That's one of the many list of things that needs to be done, but first, I'll need to amend the shape of the bulbous bow, add the anchor wells above the waterline at the bow and add the stabilisers. So, plenty of stuff still to go. Lots of fun, though. Have a great week! Cheers Patrick
  14. Hi Nenad i reckon you and Hothead must be very deservedly proud! Amazing design work and yes, the world needs talented architects. Watch out world - Hothead's coming! Cheers Patrick
  15. Hi Mehmet Your boat has so much atmosphere, that I can easily imagine the putt-putt sounds of the engine, the exhaust trailing away in the breeze, the bilge water being pumped overboard, the nets swaying from side to side from the swell of the ocean, the seagulls lurking overhead for a quick meal and the captain yelling at his ship mates. What more can you ask for? Lovely work! Cheers Patrick
  16. Thanks Lawrence You're absolutely right about Majellan looking better after the accident. How does that saying go - "every cloud has a silver lining"? You see, having to fix the damage has forced me to address quite a few problems that I'd been putting off for a rainy day, e.g. the painting and fixing up a few areas of the superstructure which required alterations and improvements. So, all in all, the accident wasn't so bad, after all. Have a great weekend! Cheers Patrick
  17. Thanks Denis. Not a 'bomb' in my mind, at all. I guess what appealed to me in the last photo is the fact that the entry to the underwater part of the bow looked really fine, i.e. reminiscent of the three hulled boat that you showed earlier. (I hope I'm making sense!). Cheers Patrick
  18. Hi Nenad Wow. I know you said it was complex, but...I had no idea!!! I look forward to seeing the final product. I hope Hothead scores well with this one. Cheers Patrick
