uss frolick got a reaction from scrubbyj427 in HMS Montague 1779 bygaryshipwright - 74-gun Alfred-class
One of the reasons Captain Bainbridge sailed the USS Constitution home after defeating HMS Java in December 1812, was his concern about the nearby flagship of the British Brazilian Squadron, HMS Montague, 74.
Stunning model!

Hi Gabe and thank you good sir. How is you work coming along? Your painting is just out standing and has been awhile since we last talk. Hope every thing is going good. Gary

Hi Frolick. Thanks for the information on the Montague, didn't know this. Thank you for the kind words and glad that you like her.

Something else in between...😀
Ron Neilson of the Philadelphia Ship Model Society asked me if they could use a detail photo of my La Créole as the cover photo for their next club newsletter "Quarterdeck" in April.
Of course I was happy about the interest in my model and agreed.
This is what the cover looks like:

That book (assuming does get written), combined with the book by Bernard Froliche would be the ultimate guiding sources bundle for all model ship building especially prior to the 1830s when more metal became increasingly in use.

... "SS Atlantic: The White Star Line's First Disaster at Sea" by Greg Cochkanoff and Bob Chaulk . Out of print for many years, but still relatively recent. It was about $600 on average last year, but $1,200 today? Really? If demand is this high, and I admit It is a great story, so where is the reprint? All I want to do is read it ...🥺

One of the many reasons to love MSW.... the help members offer to one another like the post from Ron above with an alternate source for Mr. Frolick. Nicely done.
