  1. Hi Frank,did you get 3.5mm deadeye strops in your kit or did you make them yourself?Just trying to make some not much luck yet.You must be nearly done now,she looks brilliant.Any ideas for the next one after a wee rest.
  2. Thanks guys,just plodding away.Popeye you are dead right there,i usually find the first one after dropping the second,as long as you have spares you'll be alright,and don't use the vacumn cleaner until you've finnished the ship.
  3. Wow Augie,awesome job on the yards you mean you don't just leave them blank.Looks like i've got lots of work to do on mine.Put them away so Frank can't add more blocks to them.

  5. Some of the bowsprit rigging,waiting on eye rings to finnish the blocks.Nice to be onto another stage of the ship.Hope i don't catch my sleeve in anything now.
  6. Hey Popeye,great job on your America.You sure are an expert at sails.I like the way you used two rings on the deck pulley blocks.Nice job.
  7. Just looked at the extra blocks i need to attach to the masts and bowsprit and that's before Frank has got to it,quite a few to go yet.

  10. Hi Frank, thanks a lot for your advice.You really need to check all the plans alright.I finally found how many cleats to put on the masts by looking at all the later plans.

  15. Hey Augie,Just had a look through all your log you're doing a fantastic job.Great work on the rigging i can appreciate all of your hard work and keep your left foot away from the ship,use your right.
  16. Thanks Augie,the grain has come out a bit in the stained masts so that's good.Now how not to drop a 3mm block on the floor.
  17. Tapering done,hard to see but it's done.Rimu timber stain on the masts,yards matt black,now for a couple of blocks etc.

Hi Frank,I hope all is good with you and have a fast recovery.Are you sure you just did'nt need a rest from doing rigging and sails.You have done a brilliant job rigging Frank and i love your sails,great job.Mine will just be basic with lots of looking through your log as to "how the hell did Frank do that stage"Hurry back buddy.
  19. Thanks men,I'll leave the hull the way it is for now,just using a rimu timber stain on my masts hope it looks o.k.Just plodding away with the mast and spar tapering with the high tech drill lathe.Try and take some pix soon.

  21. Hi Alex,i used antique furniture polish it's a blend of oils with linseed oil maybe boiled gives it the darker colour.I have put a few layers on and once it soaks in it's darker as well.
