Thats right Popeye,The guys who repair the stay sails came with a donkey cart yesterday to pick them up,he was shaking his head at the condition of them so could be a long repair, dragging on and on like the Americas cup.

Thanks Denis,it's got a lot of faults close up but hopefully i can improve for the next one.I've got another one waiting patiently in the wardrobe. The Occre Endeavour for a good deal about half the price we can get it for here. But now Cornwall model boats have it for a good price. The Occre instructions i have had before are great lots of detail.

Ok this is the finished yard, next one i'll use less sail to open it out more between tie down ropes and get the sides narrower against the yard. One down 6 to go plus gaffs.

Thanks Popeye,it is the same yard just a bigger sail and a new rope walk. The old rope walk was to stiff with glue and too long. The wider yards should look better as well.Once you get the technique for one new job the rest is easy just like the rest of the ship,as you know.

Thanks Popeye,I'm just doing a dry fit of the yards for the photos then trying furled sails. What do people think of the one i have done, needs more tea stain. If that still leaves a white patch i'll stain some more Calico Denis Pink kindly gave me from Auckland,Ron.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
