Good evening everyone more progress made this weekend but i think i went a bit over the top on the decking, so i may take some of it out and go to steel plates, i will wait for the rivet counters to rip my head off (on F/ that is) this is the bit I may have to do again, even though i dont think it looks out of place, This Vessels had a lot of wooden decks having done lots of sanding i applied a rattle can to the Signal deck area, this now shows the bits left to be resanded Search light pedistals the square platform is the area for the binacle some lighting going in, you can still see the areas that need working on, with filler and sanding

Good evening everyone Nearly completed the basic superstructure on my Fleetscale hull 1/72 HMS Fife County class destroyer, nearly time to start the real work on her, the Foremast shape was completed this weekend, and fitted quite well onto the signal deck area, the last bit i have left to create is the hex shaped bridge observation area

Good evening everyone away from lighting, i have a boat to build paid some attention to the strern this weekend ignore the launcher, i dont know how to go about that yet, although i presume i am going to have to bur one along with the director gear total about £300 but the bulkhead behind it, which i quess is part of the Seaslug Magazine Not My photo this is how she had started the weekend ii copied the after part of the slight deck and fixed to the quarterdeck slightly aft to the top piece to get the correct angle spacers to hold the height and give the skin something to stick to card being used to make a template and i now have the shape i required

Good evening i made up a funnel top for the fwd one, just to see how to go about it, and made up the signal deck area between the funnel and mast then having carefully marked everything out i proceeded to drill all the portholes and two doors in the WRONG place hence twice as many as i need, these will be filled in later on before the coat coat goes on, all this was so that i could practice some lighting effects red lighting in the passage way behind the door warm white lighting

good evening everyone I forgot to post build progress last weekend I moved to the forward superstructure, as i want to keep the project at or around the same amount of progress, so with my modified light box a set of plans and a piece of plasticard, off I jolly well went at the efter end of the fwd section there is a split level deck, there is access doors and ladders down the main deck this is not my photo but you can see behind the boat the area i am on about to finish the weekend off I made the support area for the fwd mast this weekend the Bridge area's turn as of last Sunday she looks like this, slowly beginning to look like something

Piet thank you for your comments, im enjoying this build a lot, i managed to get some more covering of the MDF last night, but realised that perhaps this is not the best time to do it, as there is lots more bits of superstructure to be added which means i will have to adapt what is in place to fit it, i will update as I move on

this weekend has been working forward of the hanger, and the big question, (could i do better), lets find out not turning back as it all went in the bin, even the dog ate some back to the idea of building with 3mm MDF using the plans to keep the centre line correct, i made a spacers to keep it all lines up, these eventually become vents and exhausts this is not my photo, but you can see what I mean towards the end of the hanger when happy 1mm plasticard was added to the roof, and more access points added also stared to add 0.5mm skim to the bulkheads, as ot flows around the corners i created

Good evening everyone i was happy with the hanger, but last weekend i ripped the after block off (director gear office) and did it again this was because at the end of the hanger roof where it drops down would not sit square (sorted) i am even putting in access points, in case i need them everything is removable at this time

Led Lights arrived today, intentions are to use these where possible to simulate internal lighting only, like the hanger, Bridge, and passage ways I need to think ahead as to how they are going to fit, but they can be cut down to lengths of 3 leds, the last phot was just to see what they will look like, and how easy it will be to hide any wiring, I have a remote control for them on its way, so lol i hope they do the job

good morning everyone well the helo could have turned out better, but for now it will do, I have plans to change it towards the end of the build, the tail will have to be repainted as the masking did not work very well and again a picture of what I am trying to achieve also the rotor blade holder is not in place yet

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
