  1. very nice indeed, well stuck on otherwise they would fall off being upside down,
  2. i am still finding a way the suits my style of building, unfortunately i am perhaps trying to hard, and sanding every other level flat. so i am getting a dressed brick effect also i dont quite understand the scales used on the kits, my bridge is 1/350 the castles i have for Christmas are 1/135 i think but still use the same size bricks 5x5mm maybe my style of building suits the smaller scale
  3. the card alone is good quality, and makes a decent solid model, the bricks make it earth quake proof
  4. good evening eveyone Day 4 and 5 Bridge the reason starting this, was so that the admiral could have something on the shelf, started and completed, by me, very quickly we both realised this was not going to be a weekend job, so i put it to one side and built up a cheap lego kit, and thoroughly enjoyed it, with a couple 1000 pieces, took sat evening and Sunday to build up (about 8 hours), yep looks like a toy anyway having gained a bit of confidence over the last couple days, i started the bridge, and tonight have most of it done, i might be cleaning the pieces up to much, as they are quite smooth
  5. Great fun, but oh so messy, the dust travels much further than the sawdust
  6. DRY, dank and dreary here in Somerset UK 10 degs
  7. Thank you for your kind comments i have now put a link in, the reason for having not done so was because of the nature of MSW, and i never thought anyone would be interested, appears I am wrong again, LOL
  8. nice build, have you made any more progress?
  9. yes bob they are, and i have done very little if anything to them, the build is currently stored away for completion, along with with other projects,
  10. Good Morning Waitoa just been through your build, and i am learning by my mistakes just as you did, however a few of my mistakes could have been avoided by looking through the instructions, oh hum, a good example is the filing of each layer to keep a constant level, i am now doing that, but have more than one wall going on at the same time to allow more building, my success with corners is hit and miss, the 90 degree ones are not to bad, its the ones where cutting different angles is required loving your work
  11. but its not as good as yours, and i agree that i need to be more careful on the ends, im loving it, something completely different to anything i have done before
  12. Good evening everyone day 3 much the same as yesterday its slow progress, so i have more than one section on the go at a time, allows time for the glue to dry
  13. good evening everyone day 2 well i made a start yesterday, the card templates are of good quality, instructions are a bit like the CAF, just illustrations of the basics, i will learn more from watching the build logs on here and of course there is you tube the tiles are set diameter, but the lengths vary, like the 5mmx5mm of which there are 000's vary from 2mm to about 15mm you you have plenty of choice to pick the size required lots of sanding, some decent file sticks and sandpaper are the main things used so far, the supplied glue, is very much like a decent paper/wood glue, the 1/2 round building was hard to get the shape right so i made up a couple of 1mm bulkheads, which worked very well i am learning as i go along, like all of my builds you can tell where i started, i am sure there will be help and advice as i plod along, im happy to listen
  14. thank you, seams like a lifetime ago since i completed her, but was only 5 months, and i am already on my 3rd uncompleted project, but like the Bismarck, Victory and this, they all get done in the end, and as soon as i restart, i wonder why i left it in the first place
  15. thank you, its just that i sanded my first wall quite smooth, and it just does not look right, i now have a smooth outside with rough mortar joint
  16. just something different for a while. to keep the admiral happy, lol she lives here as well, the Enterprise will be back
  17. just doing my first kit, how much sanding do you do on the outside face?
  18. its a lovely subject, i suppose you can add detail if the will is there lol your one of the culprits for me being here, its a much smaller scale than you are working on, but gives me an ideas about working in this material, i have a couple of castles from the same company for Christmas
  19. good evening everyone what the hell are you doing here i ask you say well i fancied a break from ship building, and wanted to try something different, i not expecting it to take years to do either, so i could be back to the sawdust within weeks well this is a kit by Aedes ars and they have a range of historical buildings in their catalogue, i picked this one, as the castle i fancy are now wrapped up for Christmas to me this is the link to the subject https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stari_Most i ordered it last night and it arrived 18 hours later apart from tools everything is in the box
  20. Good evening everyone day 68 Fore 1/2 deck nothing is fixed, if this works i will redo the stern units, this will be my last update for a while, as i am moving onto a non maritime project, something i have been asked to do by the wife, if anyone is interested i could start a new topic, but as stated non Maritime
  21. You made a lovely job of her, well done, another build log i will miss following
  22. change of plans, the wife must be reading this, and actually asked me that question today there is a few caveats though, she wants me to build something that wont take 7 years, must be completed, and fit on a shelf, so that rules out @chris watton 1/48 Royal George
