  1. lol i am moving faster now that im retired, but my Victory took 7 years, and not that well done either, St Nectan 13 months, and currant build started last June, but i keep moving on to other projects, when i see something different/better, the Amerigo was started in 2008 and went onto the shelf of doom the same year
  2. have you managed to do any more work on this project, coming along a treat
  3. Good evening everyone 99.9% complete now hope to do a final reveal at the end of the week, after sorting the stand and final bits of rigging, oooooh and a sunny day to get a few outside shots, might even get the wheelie bin in
  4. Good morning everyone not much of an update, but all four sails are now attached, hope to have then fully rigged within the next day and still on track to complete her this week will be nice to get on with another project (Amerigo Vespucci) but will miss this as it was something very different for me
  5. lovely to see you back and posting, build is stunning
  6. good evening everyone the after sail placement was easier than the main, in the end i removed the standing rigging and took the mast back out to fit, lines are now being reattached, and i am pleased the way she is going the two forward sails are 5-% complete and hopefully will also be on within a few days lovely nice day here so out in the sunshine for a couple of shots
  7. i try to learn something new everyday, shame i missed the idea for 60 years of my life i have never heard of the diagonal under decking
  8. Dennis, whats the quality of the white metal like?
  9. good evening @Jim Lad lol she is not going to let me forget that she helped me tonight i managed to get the bottom of the after sail fixed to the trolley and put on a bolt rope, and for tonight just temp put it in place, im quite pleased the way it is turning out i think the sails could do with cleaning up a bit, like removing the pencil marks
  10. good afternoon everyone sails the supplied material is washed in 70/30 water pva mixture and allowed to dry, this stops the material fraying cutting the material to the 1/1 plans and drawing the seam lines in, these lines were then sewn over by the admiral, reinforcing strips added i have done both sides
  11. good evening everyone took the build outside to get some better photos, and of course the wheelie bin, which i think has been in every log, but very windy here today and the build is very light, the standing rigging continues
  12. i made a policy a long time ago that anything i add to the side of a hull or mast to be pinned, never had a misshap since
  13. good evening everyone from a very windy Somerset, but dry, might even get some gardening done tomorrow wrt the build the rigging has started, and the stays are going in its such a shame that the instructions are pants, going by the steps the brass runners go up the masts and are pinned into position, tonight i realise the stays go behind them lol ho hum sorry for the crap photos, to get any detail in landscape i impossible as she is to large, when in portrait to picture turns 90 degrees
  14. Good evening everyone been a good day, took the Boi out on 3 walkies and never got wet once as for the build,, the hull, masts and fittings are complete, other than two spars that are stowed on the deck, i might not bother with them i had to scratch the fwd skylight, i remember removing them at the start of the build, put them in a safe place, but forgot where that place is, no doubt they will be found when the Amerigo comes back to the table later this week Deck blocks skylights and a few progress shots
