  1. Good evening well im not 100% sure i have achieved what i wanted, but it look far better than it did, at present i have lost the wire rope effect, and some of the ratlines are not laying down correctly, the 2ns can be sorted with a pva wash, i may try drybrushing the shrouds, anyway here is the port side
  2. looking very nice indeed considering the limitations you have with the hobby, very well done OC
  3. good evening everyone well the first big rip out of this build, i removed the mast. and rigging, having made the decision its not good enough mast removed deck hole made larger made the mast base hole larger metal tube from the Bismarck build cut lager than required wooden dowelling to firm up the top section of the mast resprayed and back on the boat within an hour the extra metal tube is secured under with a washer c/a into place new shrouds made as before but now toned down with a flory grime wash i even converted a photo to black and white to help me make a decision to do the rip out, obviously that didnt change my mind
  4. lol i get to follow you from the start, then find out you are doing two of them, the planking turned out very well, going to look very nice in the end
  5. yes mark, the shrouds are steel, rats were cordage, wooden slats, or even wire, i think they are to black, so i might just redo the lot, and even think about the mast idea again, and move to a metal tube, to stop any flexing
  6. Good evening everyone, not a complete disaster today, but the photos, do not show what i am trying to achieve, however the steel lines are still to be weathered, and perhaps then it wont look so bad, But my attempt at a well hammered/used set of shrouds and rats, dont look good at present
  7. im passed that stage, and as i nor have the free time, thoroughly enjoying it good evening everyone, another day another update, you lot are so lucky some of the little modules that i built months ago are now finding there way onto the build the booms behind the wheelhouse the fwd funnel stays are in, the two cowls now have a home, but mainly there for now to ensure nothing is causing an obstruction two booms are in the rest position, and will be rigged tomorrow, in the raised position all the mast stays are now in place, and this week will be fixed in place so that the ratlines can go in then outside for a few photo's
  8. some useful advice, i never help myself, by taking the relief off and putting thin veneer down
  9. i do hope you are able to be making sawdust again soon, so glad you are feeling better
  10. Good evening everyone the funnel, is a large lump to just drop in place, and there are no location tabs, so i have fixed a piece of wood inside the funnel, another fixed to the superstructure and drilled through a 3rd but, this screw then pulls the piece inside the funnel down therefore locking it in place (not fell of yet) i continued with the rigging today, and it seams to be ok, the mast is in the right position, so for now i am making up the backstays
  11. good morning everyone well i put the shrouds in place, they are secured at the bottom, and the tops are still free to be adjusted, when the time arrives, i may have to remove the mast again to put a larger wedge in to improve the rake the ratlines will be thread, as that is how the Ross Tiger is fitted out, although a different type of trawler
  12. all gone to the dust monster many years ago, infact in 2006 when mum cleaned the loft out there was a large Airfix spitfire, which had just totally fallen apart, i could have just boxed it up and rebuilt it again
  13. taken in the late 60's early 70's late time i build a fly thing
  14. good morning everyone thank you for the help on this subject so far this morning i have come up with this, looks so much tidier, and seams to work
  15. lol bit tired tonight, im trying to visualise how that will work, i will give some thought during doggie walkies, be back soon
  16. good evening everyone have i got this right i have tried. although room for improvement to adapt a turnbuckle to hold a replicated cable in place without the need to tie the rope/wire off any suggestions appreciated,
  17. all the running gear is in place she will see water soon, for test trails and ballasting
  18. Mark i could make some, well i say make, i could chop the threaded bits off and push them into a hollow tube, BUT am i doing the wrong setup for this build, should it be deadeyes like on the foremast
